These are my very first attempts at painting.
I chose the Forest Destrachan first, as it was a Large mini with large surface area and not a lot of detail required. I thought it might be an easy subject for a beginner. I'm very happy with the result, but I think I spoiled it by using a gloss finish which obscures the detail somewhat.
My second and third attempts were the Lava Destrachan and Chraal, which I painted together, basically so I had something to continue with while waiting for the other to dry. I haven't any experience at knowing which colours to use, or how to mix them to get what I want, so I chose a fire-theme really to make it easy for myself, though I do like fire-themed creatures.
Again, I'm very happy with the results. The Chraal is listed in the Manual as Organisaton:Solitary, so it's great to be able to repurpose figures like these if you draw multiples of them. I like the way the protrusions harden like black coal.
I haven't sealed these off yet, but I'm thinking of using a satin spray this time, instead of the Ardcoat glossy laquer I used last time. | |

| I like the lava chraal. The various shades look nice on it. I do like the darkened bumps that you mentioned.
I haven't put a seal on the DDM that someone repainted for me yet. I think it would be smart, but I don't want them to end up too glossy. | |

| Quick request, when posting a number of pictures, try to stack them vertically instead of all on the same row. Having to shift screeen left and right to read text and comments is a real pain. Thanks

Fixed.
I never realised it was doing that, as I use Firefox browser which displayed things fine. However, I just checked it in IE, and I see what you mean. I shouldn't have to check my posts for cross-browser-compatibility in a message forum *sigh*. It's an imperfect world [B)]
