I know that with Mage Knight minis, you can heat them gently over an open flame and the plastic becomes pliable. I haven't tried this with D&D minis, but I'm close to trying it out on a few oddly positioned figs. Dire Bat is high on that list.

Dip it in hot water for 15 seconds, reposition the wings, then dip in cold water. Also works great for straghtening bent swords or limboing skeletons.

Try the hot/cold water method.

put some water to boil...while you wait get a nice size deep bowl and add some ice to it and then cold water, make sure you have plenty of liquid and room to submerge the miniature.

Before the water boils (little bubbles at the bottom) shut the flame off and with a set of plyers (or fingers) grab the mini by the base and dunk it in the hot water wings first, wait a bit (I'd say about 45 seconds) take it out and with your fingers (watch out it is hot) spread the wings any way you want and quickly, while holding the pose with your hands, submerge the mini in the cold water; make sure you are still holding it until it becomes stiff again (ok, that sounds bad but you knwo what I mean).
You will most likely need to repeat this process (perhaps increasing the hot water bath time) until the memory of the plastic is erased and the new shape holds for true.

It is very possible, I've changed, for example, the arm angle of an Ettin.

Good luck, I had already thought about spreading that bat wings (holy corny quote batman) as it makes it look much more menacing! [:D]

If you're not storing the minis on a shelf or in similar place, should a pool of hot water be an important part of your RPG accessories? [:P]

I'm storing my minis in toolboxes and each time I take them away, majority of them seem to need a dip...

Looks like we'll also be clipping off the spikes on the back and mounting some mini to its back. I'll have to look through the C/U trade bucket for the right one.

Our first project in repainting or re-designing! I'll post it when we get to it.

This is what I use. It's quicker than hot water, but you have to be careful you don't melt them. It worked well on the bat wings and various skeletons, bent weapons and bone devils.

Hot watered all of mine and now they look right! Tried to keep the wings high enough so they didn't interfere with other nearby minis.

Gotta wonder why I've never tried the hot water before! Three dire bats, three very different looks.

I'll post pictures once I figure out what to mount. Right now, I'm thinking the Blue would look good on there. If I had more kobolds with spears...maybe that is the idea?

Go ahead and suggest some minis if you want, I'll try it if I have enough of them.

The dire bat wings are very flexible and don't require a lot of heat. The Aspect of Bane's mace is straight for the first time. I straighted the horns on my sons' feral minotaurs so they point out.

I had a bat that came with wing tips bent out, and one that had wings almost closed (along with normal ones). Seeing them all together looks awesome! If you haven't done so, i recommend the tiny bit of effort it takes to make them all slightly different.

I have mounted skirmishers and i think a mounted Snig. I also have kobolds mounted on bronze dragons [:)]

I tried the hot water method, but they bent back. This happens every time. Any suggestions?

If they go back, the water may not have been hot enough or you may not have held it in the cold long enough. You can actually feel the plastic reset in the ice water when it takes well.
