| | thanks all. leaning toward a blood red. have a nice metallic ruby that should do the trick. will see how it looks as a test. just have to dig out a cool shield and sword. many spiky dark eldar bits to be added as well. will see how the flames come out. will do on legs, not sure about head since it has armor. could just cover it up I guess. And the tabards must be of flame resistance! [:p] | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. Wisdom comes from bad judgement. Member Team ROH Qwijoma on Wizards Boards | |

| Blood red works well for blackguards. Just remember, if you are going to do some highlighting, mix in yellow to achive the highlights. If you use white, you'll end up with the pink anti-paladin of doom (which is never, ever, pretty![V])
I can give you some hints on the green stuff flames (mine are far from perfect, but are passable). Start out by rolling out the green stuff into a little tube. Then pinch off one end, while rolling it further. Fix the untapered end to the figure and use a fine tool to "curl" the flame in whatever interesting shape you want. Work slowly and only put one layer on at a time (otherwise you'll end up with a frosting covered horse!)
Good luck! | | | |

| | thanks for the tips. will post a pic tonight of the red I am thinking of using. painted the new head to see how it would look. think I will do a semi-strip of the paladin before I start too...not sure if I have enough green stuff....have some grey epoxy too, but it gets a lil fragile in small amounts..use it more for bulk.... | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. | in my experience, flames aren't easy to achieve as an addition. I think the problem is getting the stuff on the part to add, then shaping it without losing coverage or shape, hard balance to manage. I would actually use the firmer grey stuff over softer green (or mix it higher green for a firmer consistency), let it semi harden after basic shaping, then cut it down so that the edges are sharper. Flaming horse = scary. [}:)] Coolwhip horse = yummy. [:p] | | Champion of the Townsfolk... seriously... | |

| so....was browsing through ebay....getting the conversion bug so I figured 'hey, the dark eldar parts work well..instead of hacking all of them up lets look for bits lot' still thinking about some of the bigger lots, but won these guys, who should be here in a few days. question is, should I used one of these heads instead? or stick with the one I already chose? or just get ANOTHER mounted paladin and make 2? [:D] (I have 2 as it is, only one getting hacked)

| Use the one on the far right!!
That one looks EE-vil.

| | I think one of the top center two would look the best, but I'm sure whichever one you choose to go with will end up looking good or I guess I should say evil. | | Quis custodiet ipsos custodes--Who will gaurd the guards? Champion of the Commoner Mob Leader | |
