| Great job all around. My only nitpick is that something doesnt look quite right on the Dire Weasel because at the moment he looks like a White Chocolate Easter Weasel.
But again Awesome job on all three!! | | Champion of the Alhoon and my called shot for Unhallowed Blood War Called Shot: Phoenix Trade withe me!

| | I think the barbarian looks great. I agree with vash that the weasel doesn't quite look right. I think maybe a darker ink wash would help pull out some highlights, but yours is already much better than I could do, so what do I know. | | Quis custodiet ipsos custodes--Who will gaurd the guards? | wow, those pics are great and the paint jobs!!!!!!

| spike: the paint is only as good as the brush that holds it and the hand that weilds it [)]
with that said...and I didn't want to be the first, it is true about the weasel, a bit of dark wash and it will help define its lines and voila! perfect paint-job! | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis

| That Dire Weasel is a thing of great beauty. I'd have never given the piece a second look until now. I'm going to have to look at all my minis in greater detail.
The Mercenary is awesome too.

| Thanks everyone.
Looking at the picture, I can see what you're saying about the weasel - it's better in person (the photo has slightly reduced the contrast). I did think about putting a darker wash on it, but was worried it would make the whole thing too dark (the indented bits of the fur are as big as the raised bits). I love the current colour and overall look, so I'll probably leave it as it is.
spikegif - Thanks - I think it's a combination of good paint, improving skill, and luck (all the eyes landed in the right place first try).
shadowlord - Thanks - practice makes a huge difference, every batch of minis I paint is better than the previous set. If you want some encouragement, click on the link in my signature - it has basically every mini I've painted in reverse chronological order (the early ones are not very good - but are still better than the originals) - and you can see the improvement as I've gone along.
Vrecknidj - Thanks - yes, it is amazing how many good looking minis are hiding under terrible paint jobs [)]
I'll be doing some more painting over the next couple of weekends, so lookout for updates (or maybe a new thread) depending on how many I get done. Thanks for looking.

First of all nice job! I too have to chime in on the weasel. If you do a brown (walnut) wash, it should keep the basic color of the weasel and not make the contrast too harsh. I would mix around %75 water to %25 paint and go slowly.
Otherwise - great job on the barbarian. The flesh color is indeed great and you did a nice job highlighting.

| Well, I did a wash on the weasel. Here's a picture of the old one, and the new one. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b372/smithmeg74/fiendishdireweaselrepaints.jpg I've done a medium brown wash, and then re-done the dry brushing (I haven't repainted the spikes, or the eye yet). As I feared, it's turned brown. Can anyone suggest anything to make it a white weasel again? (short of redoing the original paint job). Thanks | | | |

| Ouch, too bad on the Wash turning out like that smithmeg. The only sugestion I can offer you is to drybrush it some more.
I like what you did with all three of the figures, the weasel in particular. | | Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul

| ok heres what i recommend, get a brush that is a little bigger, cut the bristles so they are real short but the spread out wide, then put a teeny bit of light light yellow on it, make sure theres very little paint on the brush(painting your palm helps even it out) then dry brush it extremely lightly. The yellow gives a fake shine that with a light wash lightens it up and makes the brighter color darker.
This is my 2 cents :) | | Gnomes are small, cute, energetic, and IMMENSLY POWERFUL! Champion of Svirfneblin and Gnome Bards! Champion of little orange papers! (if you trade with me you will understand) H/W List / Ref Thread Sucessful Trades: 7

| Your Barbarian floored me - I never realized just how much detail was on him!
The Dire Badger is nice but maybe a little too dark? The red spikes might be better to match the blue/white of his face.
Dire Weasel - dang! I thought it was the killer weasels my roommates bought years ago back to torment me and eat my toes!
