| I've started taking a few pictures of my repaints and conversions and though the photography needs a lot of work, I thought I'd share some of them here:
My take on the loyal earth elemental: Front http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656854 Side http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656855 Back http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656856 These are from my latest set of photos using two unshaded lamps about three feet from the mini (later I tried shading them by taking 1 ply of kleenex across the front of the near light but it didn't seem to make a difference), a sheet of white paper for backdrop, and my HP 620 on a tripod. I had to use the gamma correction feature of paintshop and I don't think the raw umber/soft gray contrast came out quite right in the pictures.
My conversion of a hobgoblin impaler: Front: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656857 Side: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656858
These are my previous attempts at photos. The first was freehand against some terrain I built a few years ago and probably using the flash; the second was not using flash but was too heavily illuminated with a single lamp about one foot from the mini.
The conversion itself was fairly easy. I cut the mini from the base, removed its head, and ground the neck down with my dremmel. I then glued styrofoam onto the base, covered it with white glue to protect it from the eventual spray coat I would give it, and glued a Games Workshop Mordheim Middenheimer mercenary head on top in place of the hobgoblin head and repainted.
Reaper marilith: Front http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656859&f=0 Back http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656860&f=0
The first is from the latest shoot and the second from the previous shoot. The colors seemed to come out much better in the first shoot. I didn't think the lightbulbs were so different (GD soft white vs. GE Techbright tube light). It may be that using the white background with yellow light was what did changed the colors.
Sting of Lolth repaint as surface elf front http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656863&f=0 back http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656900&f=0
I thought this would work a lot better than it did, but it turns out that there isn't nearly as much detail on the mini as I thought there was and what there is seems to be mixed up with the mold lines on her calves. Still, she makes a decent surface elf.
Chainmail Centaur front http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656901&f=0 back http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656902&f=0
DDM weretiger--an experiment in basing front http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656861&f=0 Side http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4363723&a=32067049&p=73656862&f=0 other side
This isn't a full repaint. Instead, it was intended to see how much I could improve the mini's look with a little touch up and a base. So, I based the mini, repainted the eyes and teeth, added paint on the claws, and tried a little bit of a drybrushing and glazing to add highlights and shadows. The latter didn't come out in the picture and probably didn't really save me a lot of time vis a vis just repainting the whole thing. However, I'm still happy with the result and the weretiger gains a lot from the process so I'll give it another try when I get another weretiger.

| I dig the addition of moss to the Earth Elemental--It really gives it that "fresh from the ground" feeling.

| Those are pretty good. That's a nice idea, using static grass on the LEE. Nice base on the Weretiger!
I have to echo Glumag in that the pictures could be better, although that comes with practice.

| | Excellent conversions i like them! The loyal earth elemental have his touch with vegetation over it, and the hobgoblin impaler have something familiar with GW warhammer [:D] | | Knight of the Quori Champion of King Kaius III of Karrnath

| | Very nice... the LoEE is especially good. However, the light catches a lot of them, so hard to make some out. [:)] | | My Trading Thread | |
