Not very exciting, but useful alternatives to Snig, worgrider

I think those look great. Thanks for sharing them. I like them more because (1) they are the right size; and (2) it's easier to get multiples at a reasonable price. Now, it isn't easy for me to get multiples of those you made. But you were able to get multiples at a reasonable price.

Just the three, but they are amazingly easy and I'm convinced I could crank another one out in about 10 minutes. All you need to do is:
1. Shave the extra cloth between the goblin's legs,
2. Shave a bit off the wolf's back,
3. Use a pin drill to drill a hole in the wolf and in the goblin's butt,
4. Pin it and secure with a dot of glue.

Easy as pie.

Wow they look sweet! [:D] All we need now are some Mounted Goblin Sneaks.

Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.

My primary concern is durability. I wouldn't want to go through all the hassle if the miniatures weren't as solid as non-altered ones.

You could use a small piece of a metal paper clip (cut with tin snips or similar) to fill in the hole with the glue. That would improve the rigity in the link. You could also sand the paperclip (rough grit) to be sure the glue bonds to it.

This is my problem as well. I haven't been able to do it, yet. Even if they are commons, I haven't been able to do it. Maybe I should destroy a catfolk to rid myself of the fear! (Aesoph should be chiming in about that one [)])

Wow, those look great! I may well have started a mass -cutting of silent wolves and dimber wolves [:D] Even if we would get uncommon wolf/worg -riders, these most people would still want several of these...

Btw, has anyone found out what other good commons there are to be modded as mounted units? I'm thinking of MaA's, but they might have too much stuff between their legs [:P]

Awesome work all around. If I may make a suggestion for the next one you do, just something that may look cool. See if you can hot water method the goblin's left arm so that it looks as though he holding onto the back of the wolf as well as his sword. May add something, may not.

Fantastic work again. Gotsta get me some timbers.

Excellent work, now I've got to buy myself a pin drill! Dremel work for that? I really think those look better than the Snig preview, the large warg and the way he's holding his axe and trying to ride at the same time just don't look natural to me.

The legs of Caravan Guards indeed seem adequate for mounting, but you'd have to use a large animal like the Winter Wolf.
Carrion Tribe Barbarian and Dwarf Raider also looks like possible riders.

Excellent work, excellent idea! i like it a lot!

What we next is a goblin over a worg or wolf with a bow or ballista, that could be very useful!

I didn't get a chance to take a pic, but I made a Mounted Goblin Frogrider for frogrodeo. I used a mounted gobbo from Mage Knight (repainted) on a Giant Frog (also repainted), with a wire wick from a candle fashioned into a lasso. It was sweeet!

I've been trying to get my Common soldiers in groups of 10, so I'd need 10 more SWGs and 10 T-Wolves... repainted so they look different from the SWG infantry... drooling, drooling... why do I hafta be stuck at work right now? WAH!

I think this thread and the sheer number of people who look like they are going to go to the hassle of making goblin worg riders lets WotC know that it looks like they should have done an uncommon goblin worg rider on medium base instead of the super detailed rare on a large base that they did.

Indeed, but I think the problem was sculpting something that would work. It is easy to just shave a couple of minis and glue them together and a lot harder to design a miniature whose sculpt is feasible for production and still remains esthetically good.

The Halfling on Mastiff was a good example…crappy at best. I would imagine medium size mounted miniatures must be very hard to design, but then again I have 0 experience with their process so I could be horribly wrong in defending their lack of support for something we all want. [)]

Wow! Got to admit I've got to break out a few of the spares and give it a try myself. Cutting/shaving and glueing I can handle, the painting is where I'm shaky. Very cool, thanks for sharing.

That's really good. Suddenly I want some more silent wolf goblins. Especially considering how diappointing the worg riding snig is. I mean come on. It is supposed to be a medium not a large. A large is not very useful.

Good job.
