Hola ~

I've an ebay vendor that I've got some bids pending currently and in trolling their entries found that they're selling three sets of Vallejo paints; Game Color Introset, Specialist and Advanced. All about 25.00 apiece currently.

From the wealth of talent here, would they be a worthwhile investment? Got to break out that old crafter's box of mine and see what damage I can do sometime.

Thank you in advance for any input!

You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing?

I am a big fan of Vallejo paints. They are nice smooth (for the most part) and have a really good cover ability. But after reading smithmeg's article/review on the Reaper Master Series he shows another alternative and lays out some comparisons. If you have the money to spend I would get them as it is always nice, IMHO, to have more paints. But if you are looking for the best around I would look at the review article from smithmeg. Here is the thread:

Wow, someone got referred to something I wrote!!! I'm stunned. Thanks griffrat. [:)]
Further experimentation has confirmed what I initially thought - I prefer RMS (cause they suit my style of painting, and I love the triads), but the VGC are very good too. (and both are a huge improvement over non-model paint (unless you are runelord)). It all depends on how much money you want to spend (and how many colours you want).

No problem. I thought the review was quite good and informative. A real pleasure to read and absorb...a lot of work went into you writting that and you should get credit for the work you did.

I'm actually looking to go over to all RMS and RPP later this year. I just have to let go of those old paints I know inside and out...

Well, if you win the Vallejo paint sets at $25, that's not bad as that comes out to about $1.56. Nice deal. If you win them at $30 that would come to $1.88 a bottle. Still not bad.

I personally just got back into painting minis after more than a decade. My husband started me out with some Reaper Pro-Series paint sets as a Christmas gift, and I've been very pleased with them. I've even added a good amount more to my collection since then... I'm up to about 60 colors. But at $1.87 a bottle, who can resist!? [:D]

For both price and quality, I personally choose Reaper Pro-Series.

I buy mine over at www.miniaturemarket.com
They've got the Reaper Master series & Vallejo paints there, too.

NOTE: I am only a customer of Miniature Market and am in no way affiliated with them or even personally know anyone affiliated with them. It's just a place I like to get my metal minis & paints from.
