The pics are pretty sizable so there's the link.

This is my first attempt at a total conversion. I'm not the best sculptor in the world but I'm quite pleased with the results. This is also my first real attempt at painting realistic flames (building from light to dark blending yellows into reds). Overall I'm pretty happy with the results. I decided not to go too dark with the red.

I'm using Runelord's tips for painting flame so kudos to him if this turned out well [:D]

Comments/suggestions always welcome and appreciated [^]

The painting is excellent, and the upper half looks stunning. I like the hands, head and torso. I find the bottom half too smooth. It's the right color and effect, but it looks too much like a cone.

The upper half is a Nightwalker. This is the best use for the damned thing IMO.

This is a good job, Zenthrus, but I think you should take the fire further. Really go dramatic with it!

I obviously saw that it's a converted Nightwalker, but as far as I can see little flames were added to the upper half, and the surface was made coarser (was it green stuff?). The bottom seem totaly covered to give it a cone-like shape. Adding the same nice fire tongues there would improve it greately IMHO.

It's all sculpy or greenstuff. I'll have to add some flame licks to the bottom. That's a good suggestion. I didn't do anything to roughen up the skin texture and that is a Nightwalker. I picked up a bunch of Nightwalkers off of ebay for around $1 each and thought...RPG needs=1 Nightwalker. Skirmish needs=1 nightwalker. RPG needs for Huge Elementals=LOTS! I agree with Sulaco that the best use for Nightwalkers is to convert them into Huge Elementals. I'm working on one of each type but Fire is definitely the easiest. Judging the trend in elementals in recent sets I expect a Huge Earth Elemental in WotDQ but I'm not holding my breath on the others.

the fire needs to be more pointy in my opinion, right now is too round. Looks good and gets the point across but it also looks like candy. More colors on the fire as well, looks like it pretty much has two tones.

The lower half is too linear. It looks like it's wearing a striped dress! I'd try to make the lines more organic, more free-flowing.

The top half looks great! Just need to bring the bottom half to that same level and you'd have an amazing conversion.

My thoughts, too. Unless striped dresses and matching base are the latest in fire elemental fashion. [:o)]

The striped base I make apologies for: I suck at basing [:D]

The bottom of the elemental was modeled on the Harbinger Large Fire Elemental. Apparentely that wasn't the best choice (it's also in effect wearing a striped dress).

I think you had the right idea, you just need to fill it out more and maybe fill the top in a little.

Good work! Like dariustad I also paid attention to the base. If you need ideas - maybe black/dark grains and drybrushed with shades of orange from center to edge? And making the visible edge between base & mini disappear fully (I don't know how green stuff can be used...) and making the edge live more.

It looks pretty good, but like everyone else has said, some more spikes in the bottom part would probably help.
I think I'd probably use a bit more orange too - at the moment it looks like it goes straight from yellow to red.

LOL it's an excellent job at sculpting (certainly more than my meager skills), but he really does appear to have a sundress on. Also, I'm curious about the overall pose, it may just be the angle of the pics, but it looks a lot like he dropped his keys and is bending down to look for them. Over all though, it's a great conversion. I'd love to see more Nightwalker Elementals, especially the para-elemental plane versions. Giant silt monster anyone?

Zenthrus, you might want to check out this article: http://hot-lead.org/advance/fire_prac.htm

It is an excellent tutorial on fire technique. If you applied this style to your mini it could be a real showstopper.

Cheers! :D

Looks good...prob use more orange as stated above and make some sharpe spikes coming out of the bottom cone.Like flickering flames. But more then I could do as I have never scuplted before.

The Fire Elemental looks nice, I dunno if I would have painted the base the same tho. I kind of like to keep them just plain black, but to each their own. It does look nice tho
