| | Nice, the face has much more character now. He looks like a reeaal happy stone giant. The work on the base is a real nice touch. | | Pathetic Earthlings. | | Very nice! The colors are appealing to the eye and the base looks fantastic. The stone giant's face is also much more expressive. I hadn't noticed that before (have to take a closer look). | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? | | The re-basing looks cool, and that giant looks really happy to be there. I like it. Now I just need to get the day off of work to play. The Open is in SoCal, right? | | Champion of the Entire Monster Manual 1! (Click link to see current progress!) Uncommon Painting Competition 2 Winner | |

| Thanks, all! I was pretty surprised by the amount of detail that the sculpt of the face has.
The tourney is in SoCal; more info here:

| | Yea I really like what you did with him. The face is so much more defined. I rarely worry about the base personally, more worried about the miniature. I like him tho, good job. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka | |

| I think bases are pretty important. This one serves several purposes:
1. Individuality. It makes the figure stand out when compared to the regular version. (Hopefully the paint job does that.) 2. Stablization. There is a secondary plastic disk on the base making it a little more rigid; much more important on the Marut (which should be the next one.) 3. Resin experiment. The rock is a resin cast of a real rock -- it's for a super top secret diorama for a go at winning a Golden Demon. (Hopefully I have time to finish it before July!) 4. Presentation. The original Stone Giant leans forward a bit and is lopsided. By elevating the leg on the rock, he's standing straight up and looks more regal and proud -- more trophy-like. | | Very nice work. I never thought of painting that lump of plastic. I'll be honest I didn't even know that thing really had a face to paint. I love what you've done with it. | | Champion of the Tohr-Kreen. WotDQ Called Shot: Fang Dragon. | |

| | I really like the alteration you did with the base. Is it painted foam, or a real piece of stone? Also, was it hard to bend the left leg in order to accomodate the height differential? | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| I did the same for one of the old Metal Ogres put out by wotc(pre-chainmail). By raising him up a bit he became less of a knuckle-drager and more of a threating figure.

It's a resin cast of a stone, allowing me to drill a hole into it so I can pin the figure to the base. (I try to pin everything; much more stable.) The leg isn't bent at all. The original stone giant leans forward and to the side, so I just built up the other leg until he was basically standing straight up. | | Champion of the common Flying Monkey (Fez optional) Peter Lee on the WotC board BAD WOLF
