| Had these done for a bit now, just haven't had time to take pics. Inspired by an episode of Thundar the barbarian, there was a tribe of people riding dire bats, using nets to ensnare people. Made the saddles and reins out of epoxy. Bits are just metal cut to size. Anyone know how to make a net I can string between them??

| | For net, would you want to use the nylon netting they sell at the craft stores? You could buy 1/8th of a yard or whatever the smallest amount they sell is. You could pick the color. You could cut it to size. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

| | By the way, I like the way you spread the wings out. Looks like Blue was a great choice to go with the bats. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

| | Yea I really like how you spread the wings, it seems like a much better sculpt of the bat by doing that. Also I'm sure it was easier getting the Blue on there. It looks like a nice Boss to send after you PC's...or if you make several, a Shaman or Druid Brigade after them =] | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka | |

| Yeah is was a big Chewbacca/Lion type of Humanoid, I think it was Ookla actually. If you watch the first episode of Samurai Jack you will see Ookla mount, a Horse/amphibian thing.

Corim, thanks for the nylon netting idea. Think they have it at Pat Cattan's? Will be out later today. | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. Wisdom comes from bad judgement. No problem. I wouldn't have thought of it, but my mother-in-law has been using nylon netting to crochet dish scrubbers for a few years. If you ask me, I think that would be a little rough on the hands, but she puts out dozens of them and gives them away to people she knows. I am quite curious to see how nylon nets would look on your nice repaints. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse

| NIce. I did not do the saddles. I like your work. My next mounted dire bat project is to make an undead dire bat, that is still psionic (mine have the veins painted the same blue as the gem in the wand of the Blue). I will cut up the wings a bit also.
These are very nice, I see why you wanted to post yours earlier than mine.
spreading the wings is very, very easy. The blow dryer works very well, or boiling water. Then, spread them, go outside to the 9 inches of new snow, and set them out there. Or, if you don't live in the North, the ice bath also works. It really makes the bats look much better. You can pretty much re-shape them. I actually traded for more Blues just so i could do this. | | Fastest dropping DCI ranking on record! Champion of Juiblex

| | Thanks Zaukrie. Undead dire bats sound cool. Are you going to chop away skin and green stuff some bones? I can't wait to see. And yeah, the boiling water trick works. Never tried the hair drier. Just microwave some water, dip, bend, stick under cold water or just toss in freezer. | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. Wisdom comes from bad judgement.
