I finally had made enough pieces to make molds. And - I once again misevaluated the amount of silicon rubber needed, and run out of it. Right now I have two small ready molds waiting (if everything went well with them, I haven't opened them yet), one large mold that isn't quite ready (with the parts I wanted to have most) and one piece without silicon at all. Last time I ordered silicon it took 3-4 months to arrive. Argh, so close to having molds of those pieces I've been making for a long time, but still unusable!

Here's a pic of those pieces I was trying to make molds of:

Some for AAM, some for DDM - no Star Wars this time.

Maybe I can get something ready with the pieces I got ready now, but major stuff will still wait [:(]

Typically I used way to much silicone when I first started making molds. Then I started to determine the volume of the mold based on LxWxH. I have gotten much better at the determination of the amounts of rubber:catalysts ratios.

Have you checked out the community mold project:

Give it a look and see what you think. They are always looking for things to incorporate into a new mold....[)]

Ouch, I hate it when I run out of things, especially consering DDM.

Typical, not enough Silicon [)]

Sean-Khan, I just looked at a lot of pictures on your website. Those are awesome models you have made. That is very impressive.

Thanks, Corim! My home page isn't quite up-to-date, I haven't linked latest projects at all. Should find time for that sometimes...

Griffrat, I'll have to get familiar with that project... sounds interesting!

Btw, I checked with the seller and heard that it's minimun of 3 weeks before I can get more mold materials. Minimum - might be months with bad luck.

So, I'll be able to make some crates, barrels & marketplace stuff etc, but no A&A buildings nor more fountains/statues.

Sean-Khan, at least this is the good type of frustration - having trouble with perfecting a hobby one loves. Better than the frustration of looking for a job, or getting a speeding ticket.

That's true. And, it lets me do other kind of models I've been willing to do - it's just a little bad for motivation to spend dozens of hours to do something and not being able to see the results. And, some pieces are pretty fragile and you can't be sure if the mold is fine or at least the original still intact until you can pull the originals from the mold.

It felt really infuriating for a moment, but reasoning helps [:)]

Can anyone here in the states get the stuff for you faster and send it to you if you were to reimburse them?

Thanks for the idea, Corim, but I believe I'll wait 'til I get the stuff here. There's a plenty of models I'm making and I guess those ones can wait... I've already cast pretty nice amount of those I was able to make molds of - not to speak of projects that don't involve molds.
