| Here are some repaints that I have done during the last year or so. I'm working up to revealing my masterpiece, but these are another step to getting there. I binged on taking photos all at once, so I don't think I want to post them all up here at the same time.
These are all humanoids that looked much like an adventuring party, so that is why I grouped them together.

I'm thinking of what else to add here in the way of dialog. I guess I just found most of these figures original paint jobs rather plain and uninspiring. Sure the Duergar looks like a Duergar, but at that point every dwarf that had been produced only had an axe. I thought that it would be a good addition to my set to have a dwarf with a hammer.
The Wand Expert looked just tacky, so I wanted to redo him too. I don't know if the acid wash jeans he's wearing really fit into a fantasy campaign.
The stone child I like quite a bit. We had a Half-Ogre character with no mini to represent him, so I painted up the Stone Child who was about the right size.
My favourite from this lot is Regdar. The sculpt is quite detailed, but just had a lack of paint on him when released in the set. I'll add some close ups to this post to show what I mean. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| Nice job, the stonechild in particular looks really good with the wounds on him.
Redgar is very detailed,he looks good, but he seems too intense to be wearing a bright blue cloak and armor I would have given him a darker color. But then I can't paint at all so take what I say with a grain of salt.

| Most improved figure in that group is the Stone Child IMO.
I really dislike the way he looks normally and what you've done with him makes me want to paint one myself.
Nice job Scott. | | John

| Agreed, the stone child is much better. I always liked the sculpt but hated the original paintjob. Good repaint Beer Baron. [:)]
I like the Regdar too. Once again another sculpt that I like and you've done a great job of repainting.

| | Nice job on the Stone Child. My only suggestion would be to invest in a testor's dull coat ($3.59) as it would away all the glossy look of your minis. | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis | |

| Actually I will confess something. All those minis were sprayed in a clearcoat sealant to protect them. I usually work with a matte finish spray, but what I have on hand is semi-matte. It tends to gloss them up a bit. I use these guys in my RPG, so I do want them to stand up to the abuse of being knocked over, pizza grease and slurpee stickies.
I'll post those close ups when I get home tonight. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| I have two suggestions:
First, you must invest in Testors Dullcote. It gives an ultra-matte finish and still protects your minis. The jump in the overall look of the minis will astound you.
Second, stop using Comic Sans. Please. It is one of the ugliest fonts ever made. I'm begging you. Even Courier is preferable (and Courier sucks). | | Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. Nemesis of Gnomes and Dinosaurs.

| | I'm blown away by the simple flesh change on the Stonechild. All he needs is some facial hair courtsey of greenstuff. The Dwarf is a nice re-paint, it's funny I've been thinking about repainting the hands and beard on my Dwarf mercanaries to make more Dueagar. It does look like we are seeing a bit too much gloss/glare. I'd try hitting them with a good spray Mate Varnish, it's done a world of difference for some of my shiny figures. | | Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul | |

| I've grown to hate Stonechild minis, but your work gives them new life! I never would have thought to use them as "normal" humanoids! It's amazing how much better it looks.
There's something wrong with the dwarf, though. He's got a funny skin color, and looks to have been exposed to an unhealthy amount of sunlight... | I really like that idea for a stonechild - I'm going to have to steal it. Regdar's blue cloak looks great, but the blue armour is a bit too much beside it.

| | Regdar now looks like he's ready to lead with that fantastic colour scheme. I don't know if it's just the pictures, but the finish seems a little on the glossy side. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| Well thanks for all the great comments. I promised I'd put up some more close up pix, and here they are. I couldn't seem to find the time to get these up before now.
This is a close up of Regdar. When I first started painting this fig I just wanted to see what he looked like with a blue cloak. But I ended up adding more and more. The picture doesn't show it too well, but the blue armor is a blue wash over the old silver, and it really looks like metallic blue armor. The light bounces through the wash and just makes it shine. The one thing I found that I didn't notice when I started this paint job was the details on this figure. There is actually a mask/face in the armor on his arm. It was on thing the WOTC painters left blank and nobody knows is there. I like to send some praise to the original sculptor of this figure. He had a great eye for details!
Another shot of the Stone Child turned Half-Ogre. Still one of my faves.
And well this guy is kinda cool too. I have a bunch of these and I just wanted to freshen him up a bit. Still a little shiny though. He's not one of my adventurers, but I thought I'd post him here before I start a new thread. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca
