"Hot/Cold Water Method
For fixing bent miniature's parts

Hot/Cold Water Trick works but it has to be done properly and sometimes a few times...this is how it has worked for me:

Put pot of water to boil, while waiting grab a nice size container (so you can dunk the mini and probably your hand and hold it down) and fill it a ¼ of the way with ice then pour some cold water and let it sit...find a pair or pliers unless you are into burning yourself

Once the water starts getting bubbles at the bottom kill the flame and hold the culprit with the pliers and dunk the part (or entire mini but watch out for the base, it warps easy) in the water and wait accordingly:

Thin weapons: 20-25 seconds
Dire Bat wings: 60 seconds
Changing Ettin arms position: 120 seconds

The main idea is to get the center of the part you want to change soft, so use logic when timing things.

Now dunk the part/mini into the very cold water; you may want to hold the part to fix so it keeps the shape you want; it will almost instantly harden (even though the middle isn't depending on thickness) but you want to keep it there for a bit as well so it reaches the center and resets the plastic's memory.

Sometimes you may need to repeat this process a few times (usually between 2 and 3; just stick the mini in the freezer in between so it really cools down) because as time passes it reverts...repeating the process resets the plastic's memory nicely.

Good luck!...it DOES work."-Glumag

That came from the useful links section. I have tried it and sometimes it worked and sometimes they bent back. Its your best shot though.

if they bend back you need to extend the time in the hot water and cold water and also the repetition of the process.

The trick is to reach the core or very middle of the problem part until you do it enough times that it resets the memory to the original position or the new forced position.

I have changed the position of an Ettin's arm by doing it, and that is a thick piece.

I've used the hot / cold water trip with mixed results on bases. Sometimes you just need to do the trip more than once.

Bases are tough to fix. You need various attempts and a steady hand when you submerge it in the cold water.

The only problem with the hot/cold water method is that the bases can suffer from it, sometimes if not careful you fix the mini but warp the base.

Just make sure you apply the preassure evenly on the base and have it to the desire shape before inserting in the cold...then hold! [)]
