I have now lost the ability to tell whether or not these repaints are tempting me to pick up a brush, or reminding me that I should be kind to the rest of the Human Race and never touch one again! [:o)]
Pick up the brush. Painting is fun [:D]
Nice work as always, Mr. Lee. The detail on the face is my favorite part of this repaint [^] | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Champion of Dwarven Thunderlashers Knight of the Large Dire Chicken Have/Want List Trade References

| I actually find this WIP thread discouraging me from picking up the brush and taking my own stab at things, but not because of the amount of work involved, or feeling like I'll never be that good or whatever.
I am color-blind, and for the life of me I cannot see much of a difference at all in the last several stages of painting. Where other people are apparently seeing a big change to gold, etc., I'm still seeing what I think is orange. Another example would be the scales and fur look pretty much like the same color to me.
Anyway, I suspect this is going to be a bigger handicap for me than I had been hoping.
The end product looks great, of course. | | Anson on WotC boards

Honestly, I can't tell much difference between some of the final images, and I took the pictures! On the two pictures before the final images the main difference is with the wings; it's hard to otherwise tell the difference because of the poor photographs. | | Champion of the common Flying Monkey (Fez optional) Peter Lee on the WotC board BAD WOLF

| "Poor photographs" the man says. pheh. [)]
From the standpoint of my poor old eyes, the main difference is in the intensity of the colors. The last "step-by-step" is pretty orange. It's not traffic cone/hunter orange, but it's definitely orange.
The "final" photos are have less orange-ness to them...You can definitely see that there's some brown in there. And while the mane is somewhat orange, it's not "orange"-orange. It's more subdued, more natural-looking. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

The big change from orange to gold is not in the WIP shots it is between the WIP shots and the beauty shots which follow. And that, folks, is the difference that photography can make. A good photo shoot can't make a bad mini look better, but a bad photo can make a great mini look worse. If you wnt to highligh your work in the best light then you need to take great pics (which, FYI, I do not do).
