OK. I tried in the past to post some photos of some chainmail miniatures I had painted but the photos came out bad. Lots of people were nice enough to give me some advice and after some changes I have much better pictures.

The primary change was the light bulb! I went from a desk lamp with a regular bulb to one of those "clear light" daylight type lightbulbs. I changed the background too but actually don't like it. I grabbed a map and because it was glossy, the lamp light showed up in the background. Whoops. [:I]

Oh and I fixed my online gallery so that I can point to the photos individually as well.

But anyway, I wanted to thank those who suggested the light bulb. I don't really have an area to photo in indirect sunlight so it was my best lighting option.

Here are some photos with old light and "daylight" light.

Nice. Good photos makes a world of difference.

indeed they do. Nice work Xeno.

I usually do not like light as it tampers a bit with the actual colors, I just use a tripod and play with the shutter and apperture.

Daylight bulb also helps you to see the colours better when painting. I have a few of those, but I like quite about as much of fluorescent lamps, thier light is quite white too.

Some cameras are also usually better to correct tainted lighting.

That's a very dramatic diffrence there. Nice use of the maps as backdrops too. [:)]

Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.

Well now that that is fixed I can start posting some of my photos. (: I have only 1 DDM repaint so far but I am working on repainting my warband to use at Qualifiers (I like Runelord's repainted warbands he posted).

Vast improvement in your picture quality. Try the back of the Drow Outpost map (if you have it). It works perfectly as a backdrop with minimal reflectivity.

Now that I can see what you've done...very nice work [^]

Big difference! They look good.

It took Rune awhile to get lighing right as well. He tried outside but it gave the pictures a washed out look. Then with a desklamp but it was too "yellow". He went to the daylight bulbs and has been happy ever since!

Backgrounds help alot to. He tried maps and scenery but it seemed to take to much detail away (and the camera would more often than not, pick out the background with more detail). Maps caused a glare. What he ended up doing was picking up like 1/2 yard of plain fabric from the local craft store and that is what he uses now (he picked up tan, brown and blue but prefers the blue for some reason!).

Anyway, great job!

That is a nice set. Watch for the left leg of the main female bad guy (name escapes me at the moment) I have a pic in my photo album link. Just wanted to let you know the left leg on the sculpts (not all) have some "pits" where the leg should be a smooth skin....

Also, lighting is a thing that I am trying to alter and get down as well. Amazing! difference in the pics!!! Nicely, done....
