| Uncommon Painting Challenge 3 (and the future) The Uncommon Painting Challenge is moving to hordelings. The next challenge will be started there sometime next week. I hope everyone who's been involved will come over and continue the fun [:)].
Uncommon Painting Challenge 2 Seeing as though we had fun last time, lets do it again.
2 minis to pick from this time: Runelord ended up providing the prize for the last one, so I'm providing the prize this time, with his choice of mini - the Blood Ghost Berserker. And as last times winner, Ilarue has picked the Frost Dwarf. (It looks like it's time to practice drybrushing [)]).
The photo thread (and separate comments thread) will be started on the 24th or 25th of June, the competition will close at midnight (maxminis time) on the 1st of July.
The prize will be a rare mini - either a choice from what I've got spare on the 1st, or, if the winner is willing to wait a couple of weeks, something from WotDQ [:)].
Have Fun [:)]
In case you've forgotten what this is about, here's the rules again:
Official Challenge Rules. To be part of this challenge, you need to: 1. Paint one (or both) of the chosen minis, (either a total repaint, or just a touchup is acceptable - but the difference needs to be noticable). Basing is optional. Whether you paint 1, 2 or 6 minis, there will only be one entry per person in the prize draw. 2. Post a picture (or 2) of the mini(s) in the photo thread I will create on the date listed above - entries will be accepted until midnight (maxminis time) on the following Saturday. Please make sure pictures are cropped closely round the mini, and no taller than 6 inches - if you can't do this, send the picture to me (a link for my email is in my signature) and I'll format it - only appropriatly formatted picures will be entered in the prize draw. Any comments should go in the comments thread I will start at the same time. 3. I will randomly draw a prize winner from all the entries (the quality of the painting will have no bearing on the result - the prize is to encourage participation by painters of all abilities). I will roll a dice in the maxminis irc channel, in case anyone wants to verify the roll. 4. Prize(s) are listed above, plus the winner will get to choose one of the options of the next challenge.

| Round two-FIGHT! [:D]
Count me in. I enjoyed the last painting challenge despite hating the sculpt. This time we've got two fun minis to choose from (I'll end up doing both). Hopefully I'll get my digital camera back in time (it's on loan at the moment). | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? | I need to double-check my figure counts for each. I'm pretty sure I've an "extra" Frost Dwarf but the BGB might be a bit tougher.
That's a shame, too. As I just thought of a nifty idea for one, although I'm sure my technical ineptitude would ruin the mini, it could be fun to try. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

| | I think I'll participate in this one. I have an extra of both, bot I think a repaint of the frost dwarf would just help out so many ppl;s collections heh. *Everyone* wants a better frost dwarf =) | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka | |

I actually have both of those in my "to paint" bucket. And, I finally bought real brushes. | | Fastest dropping DCI ranking on record! Champion of Juiblex

| Ooooh... yay! I loved painting the teifling last time, so I'll absolutly be joining in again. It was fun to see everyone's style last time, and I think it might be even more interesting to see if people have gotten any better this time... I bet we'll see even better painting jobs from everyone this time around!
Now I know I have a spare BGB to paint, but I suppose I could pull one of my FGs from my collection if I really want to paint one of those. It's going to be a tough decision for me. Maybe (BIG maybe) IF I have time I'll paint both... we'll see. I'm kinda in the middle of painting a Reaper female fire wizard right now, with a few other Reaper minis waiting (yeah, I've kinda caught the painting bug). We'll see what time allows for me.
Can't wait to see everyone's painting again!

Not sure if that's a typo or not, but the challenge is to paint Frost Dwarves (FD) not Frost Giants (FG). It would be a shame to repaint a frost giant by mistake (since they come with a relatively good paint job as is). [:D]
Woohoo! My BGB is finished. Yay! Now on to the Frost Dwarf. I've decided that BGBs are incredibly quick to paint (3 hours instead of 5-6). Very few micro-details and a nice, open design make painting a breeze. Much nicer than the Tiefling Blademaster.... | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Ooops! Yeah, I did mean FD, not FG!!! [:p]
On a side note, can anybody tell me where I can find a D&D RPG discription of a "Blood Ghost Berzerker?" I know it's some kinda goblinoid, but I'd like to get a feel for what it is as I am not familiar with it. It'd help me decide how to paint it maybe.
Thanks for any help in advance![:)]

| Blood Ghost Berserkers are Bugbears. They dye their fur grey/white to signify that they are already in the land of the dead.
I don't know if there's any more real info on them. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

That sums up the Blood Ghost Berserkers (as far as we know). They dye their fur a mottled grey-white (can't kill what's already dead) and have levels of barbarian. Aside from that, they hang out with hobgoblins [:D] | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? | | I'm guessing here, but I can repaint the BGB to look like a normal bugbear, right? I mean for the contest of course. I was just considering doing this anyway. | Yes, FeranEldritchKnight, you can paint them however you want. I just asked for the BGB story, so that anyone who wanted to paint them as the 'real thing', knew what that was. Variety is encouraged [)] (see my repaints in challenge 1).

Check the last contest for Meg's "clown" entry....
I just discovered that I've one each for the Dwarf and the BGB. | I'm in. I missed out on it last time, so I swear I'll paint them solid blue if I run out of time, if just to get an entry in.
Seriously, the Frost Dwarf will look good as a regular dwarf easily enough. The Blood Ghost Berserker would also look better repainted or just touched up. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

Ilarue, glad you'll be painting again, post your photos on the thread (when it's up), just put a note in it that you don't want to be entered in the prize draw, and I'll leave your name out.
Thanks for the offer of prize support, but things get very complicated when there's more than 1 person involved in supplying the prizes in a particular month. I'll probably start looking for a sponsor for next time when I close this one, so if you'd like to volunteer then, (depending on what other offers we have), you'd be welcome [:)].
