Update 2: Forgot one other piece, added the Graycloak Ranger repaint in a post below.

As I mentioned in my Qualifier Band thread, Zozo painted some 'red herrings' I planned to use in future warbands as well. They're also done in my custom colors, i.e. white & gold, so most of them are just 'pallete swaps' like before.

All in all, he did about 8 or so other pieces. I haven't finished getting good photos of all of them yet since my camera suddenly decided it wants to be an ass about this, but I got some good ones of the following. First, a Wand Expert. There's a bit of a story to this one. Zozo called me to let me know the Wand Expert was done; "How'd it turn out," I asked. He responded, "It looks pretty pimp." -- "Whaaaat?" - Turns out he was making a reference to a P-A comic at http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/05/19

- Yeah, I know that one has glare issues, but notice the wands being repainted to hint at their functions; a true Acid Wand and Fire Wand (or "Hurt and Burn" according to the comic).

Next up was an Elf Warrior:

- It looks better in person; again I blame my camera. Next is a Half-Ogre Barbarian:

- Then the Wild Elf Raider caught a bit of glare too, but you can see the basic idea:

- There's more below, too. Yay for post-count padding!

I'm not a big fan of gold swords. That said, the Elf Warrior looks most excellent. The HOB looks like a rastafarian (white board shorts with a black belt and the hair). The Wild Elf Raider is holding the almighty gold boomerang of doom [:D]

The pimpin' Wand Expert is pretty spiffy. Now he just needs a fly ride [:p]

Yeah, yeah. Gimme a day and I'll have that fixed. I have no idea what's up with the camera. I'll be replacing the above images with better ones soon.

I call this... my Golden Bananna!

Nice way to present a very uniform look with your warband. Some of it works (CP, Frenzied, Rikka), some of it doesn't, but whether I like the color palette or not doesn't change the fact that ZoZo does a prety darned good job with his repaints.

And here's s'more pictures. First, an Elf Pyromancer (Grey Elf Wizard from Chainmail):

- And a Xeph Warrior. The skin-color change was done only because a bit of paint hit the original skin, dried, and Zozo didn't have anything close to said original, so we just opted to rework all of it.

- A Steelheart Archer that mixes white and gold armor in about equal measure. I'll be trying a variant upon this idea myself soon, but Zozo's turned out pretty well on its own:

- An Axe Soldier for LG done in my custom colors, though Zozo mentioned to me it was a bit of a rush-job due to his schedule; I thought it looked fine:

- A Warforged Scout in my colors, which was another basic pallete-swap job:

- That's all of them. I just asked for a series of figures in my custom colors so I'd have a unified look for my teams in the future, but I'll be trying my own repaints along these lines soon. Still, Zozo did exactly as I hoped and definitely did a good job.

I'd like to revise my earlier comment on the HOB--it's a rastafarian heading out to the club (he's wearing a chainmail halter...ick [XX(]).

I still like the Elf Warrior the best [^]

The new color scheme suits the Steelheart Archer very nicely.

Well done, Zozo.

I really dig the effect on the Grey Elf Wizard's spear. It has a very nice "hot!" look to it!

The Steelheart (Goldheart?) Archer looks good in her repainted armor, too.

Somehow, I just can't see a half-ogre staying that clean wearing white!

Oh, one last one. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to run a Graycloak or Aramil, so sent in both (and went with Aramil, see my tournament warband thread for that). He did a pretty good job with my idea, so I give you the Whitecloak Ranger:

The pics are better, but it still looks like you took them on the suns surface.[:P] Did you put sealer or something on the Pyro? He looks really, really glossy, and I know I only used matte paints on him.

Yeah, I used a sealer. You mentioned something about how his paintjob would scratch off really easily. Rather than testing that, I took your word on it and used some spray-sealer, which resulted in a gloss look.

The minis so bright.... I gotta wear shades. ΖD]

That is a lot of metallic gold paint! They look great, but your opponent might suffer a penalty to his spot checks during combat. [)]

I still blame my camera. The flash really messes with it, but without the flash the picture comes out uselessly blurry. They look just fine in person. There were even folks at Garland picking some of them up to inspect them between matches, amusingly enough.

very cool repaints Zozo and Pegasus Knight [:)]
I particularly like the wand expert.

Just some advice for taking photos ...
Don't use the flash (unless you can't avoid it) - particularly when taking photos of white. If things are blurry without the flash, then you may be moving - try to get a tripod (or Temperance's bag of sand) to put the camera on.
The best way I've found to take photos, is outside, in daylight, but in the shade of something big (like a house) - there is enough light, (so you won't need the flash), and it is reasonably indirect so that you should be able to see the details without too much 'shine'. (also, daylight helps the colours show up correctly).

As I said at the start - very cool minis.

They look pretty good. It would be easier to tell with less glare in the photos.

Nice theme though. [:)]

Smithmeg: I'll give that a try. I confess, I'm no professional photographer and I understand the computer-interface parts of my camera better than I do the photo-taking skill aspect. I've picked up a few tips, like "Don't photo your subject at straight angles; get slightly diagonal" and things like that, but I'm still pretty much new to it.

So, thank you for the advice. I'll give it a try for some of my upcoming repaints and see what comes up!
