| From the fingerprints in it, I would say that he used clay to sculpt it :)
Looks pretty good. You going to paint it more, or is it done?

| Sculpy. I was going to sand the prints off, but my allergies protested too much (sanding sculpy creates a LOT of dust particles).
That's as painted as it gets. It's got 7 layers of color gradations (from dark reddish-brown up to sandstone). My digital camera and I are still not on very friendly terms. It was producing good photos...I think the color saturation setting must have been changed or something when I loaned it out....
If I decide to change anything, it will be to add actual sand particles over it.
In person it looks great. I really prefer the sandstone look for earth elementals to the 'brown pile of dog poo' that most end up looking like. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. | | Back in art class, we sculpted piece-meal without leaving ridge details by working with the clay in plastic wrap. Dunno if that will work with Sculpy, but figgered I'd throw it out there. | | Jeff "Wayne Laredo" Wilder | Email | Have/Want List | Trade Policies | Are You an Ethical Trader?

| | Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to give that a shot. I plan on making at least 3 more of these buggers (since it'll be at least a year until the next huge set and I use Huge elementals regularly in RPG). | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. | | very very cool... I love the look of it! I, like Wayne, was reminded of the rock monster from GalaxyQuest. It's so cool, it makes me want to go buy sculpy [:D] | | Champion of Tanis Half-Elven | |

I need to post a side-by-side with the Underdark Loyal Earth Elemental (which is what I based the Huge on). They're very similar. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. | | Nice job, definetely looks more like a peice of earth sculpted to attack than just another Human looking earth mount. Its a neat job. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka

| I have been looking at the "art" of sculpting things out of sculpy. One of the tips that I have seen, but have not had a chance to try is talcum powder. Supposedly, it helps reduce the need for sanding and aids with the "smoothing" aspect.
Now for a gaming question. How does the sculpy hold up when knocked down/over? I would be nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking-chairs that the thing would bust and turn to dust before my eyes. But I am using the sculpy for building terrain and decorations.
Besides all those pesky questions; it looks great!!! | | Ambassador of FUN!!!
