| While still working on some of the other MK figs I have stripped, I decided to finish up these. Painted up the bones and face and rebased, trying for a fire/flaming effect. Think these are Very Rares, managed to get them for 2 bucks each (usually were 6+ every time I looked). Just one more reason to mine that line for figs. Figure these work for Burning Bones (did they make it to 3.5?) and other burning undead. Comments/advice always welcome.

| | Hmm...did light orange first. Then drybrushed outer edges with medium orange. Then red on the edges. Then black on the outermost. Longest was waiting for the light orange to dry. Put in on thin since I only cared about the recesses, not the tops, since those would be mostly covered by other colors anyways. Glad you all like. | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. | Excellent. I really like what you did with the bases - convincingly flamey. Nice final effect. ΖD]
Incidentally, are those the original MK bases (only covered in ballast/grit) or did you pop them on new bases of a more 'appropriate' size for D&D?

| | Great job, the base is particularly awesome. I just rebased one of those (although it wasn't transparent) for D&D the other day, and it took me some 45 minutes of hacking with an xacto knife just to get it off. Those spikey bits hurt as hell. I chose a 1" base, though. It seems you put it on a 1.5" base? | | Hypethetical Blood War Set List | Champion of the Gelugon | Vindicated Prophet of Blood War Ha 69/80 | De 60/60 | Ar 57/60 | GoL 72/72 | Ab 60/60 | DK 60/60 | AF 60/60 | UD 59/60 | WD 57/60 | WDQ 3/60| BW Total DDM Count: 1037 | No chance of finishing the set | Will finish the set | Set | |

| Dire Badger-Those are Warhammer bases. 2 inch. I popped them off their original bases. Most MK figs will pop off due to the glue they use, especially if the base is one solid piece.
Sammael- Did yours not pop off when you tried? Usually if you just grab the base and apply pressure they come off without difficulty. If they are stubborn, cut in with an exacto knife then pry up with a flat head screwdriver. Just be careful if there are thin sections that can break, like on the midsection on these. I have pulled at least 30 + MK figs off their bases and have had only minor problems, like feet getting left behind. And yeah, gotta be careful if they have spikey parts! | | I bought about 40 MK minis for D&D purposes. Of those, about 20 popped off their bases with no difficulty. Another 15 could be cut off their bases with a sharp knife in seconds. But the remaining five... good lord. I had to hack at them, and hack, and hack... the Pyre Spirit took the longest, but there was also one orc and one bone golem (or something) that took like 15 minutes each. Both the orc and the golem were on green bases, so it seems like some sets used better glue than others. | | Hypethetical Blood War Set List | Champion of the Gelugon | Vindicated Prophet of Blood War Ha 69/80 | De 60/60 | Ar 57/60 | GoL 72/72 | Ab 60/60 | DK 60/60 | AF 60/60 | UD 59/60 | WD 57/60 | WDQ 3/60| BW Total DDM Count: 1037 | No chance of finishing the set | Will finish the set | Set

| | Very cool. I've got a few of the older solid plastic Pyre Spirits, the translucent plastic with the re-painted bones looks fabulous. [:)] | | Pathetic Earthlings. | Sam- yeah, I have some of the green based ones too. Think those ones are older. I have had some difficulty popping legs/feet off before. I have picked up close to 200 from auctions and conventions for random filler and such.
Chtulhu-didn't even know there were non-transluscent ones. I found these looking through the MK site and off to ebay I went.
Rune-thanks. Should be getting my 3rd one this week. Now hopefully I can get some more of the uniques I like cheap! [:D] | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. Wisdom comes from bad judgement. Member Team ROH Qwijoma on Wizards Boards
