| For those interested in working with the interior of the HFE:
I just got mine open. There is a hollow cone inside which extends up almost to the seam (the "waist").
You can't simply cut the thing off of the base. The base has a ridge just inside the HFE which keeps it securely in place. I got mine off with a combination of loosening the edges with an X-acto, and prying the thing apart from its base with pliers. DO NOT ATTEPT THIS AT HOME unless you have a back-up HFE; it's very easy to pry too hard and snap the base in half.
Now that I have it open, I need to figure out what to do with it. I don't have the equipment or know-how to stick a light in it, so I'm thinking of hollowing it out further and then painting the inside white to give it an interior "glow". | | | |

| | Sounds similar to what I am already doing. I managed to get him off with mostly a screwdriver and only cracked the base [:p] Actually pulled him completely apart. Will have pics up soon. | | I have a glowing pen light somewhere, uses 3 led lights the turn on and off randomly. It might give it a glowing effect, it runs on watch batteries so it might be easy to conceal it on the mini. | | Champion of the Ixitxachitl | |

| | I got mine off with a combination of exacto and butterknife and only scratched the base in a couple of places. I also took mine the rest of the way apart and have started hollowing him out. To finnish I think I will find a dremel tool that I can borrow instead of doing it by hand. | | | |

It's about the size of a huge base. | | Champion of the common Flying Monkey (Fez optional) Peter Lee on the WotC board BAD WOLF

| | As I have fully dissected my Fire Elemental...pics up soon of the finished product..it does seem to be clear plastic with paint. In the joint that holds the upper and lower body together as well as the arms the posts are clear plastic. So they either assembled first and dipped it in a paint to absorb the color or did that first and the glue ate that away in the posts. | | Good judgement comes from wisdom.
