Has anyone attempted this yet and if so how goes it and what is your advice for the removal? I have an extra SoBD and I want to make a Huge BD out of it but I am kind of curious if anyone has run into difficulties before I get Dremel happy. I assume I may have to get some green stuff and fill in the back a little after removal. When I get the nerve to start this Ill let you know how it goes. Thanks

Zanaroth is working on it and he promised to show us some pics when done, if I recall correctly.

Ok so I am experimenting with putting pics on here any help is appreciated. Here is the SoBD without rider. I used a Dremel and sharp hobby knife. I think it looks fine like this for those of you that arent interested in going further. Thansk for looking and Ill post more pics when I finish it.

Ok Im new to this posting pics on here and it was a little tougher then I expected. I used a Dremel and hobby knife and this took about 45 minutes going very slow. You can see there is hardly any damage to the dragon and it looks fine like this if thats all you want. Ill post more pics when I finish. Thanks

Awesome!!! Great work...way good enough for me. I will keep one with a rider for the Grotto module but then clip my spare one. Thanks for sharing.

If there was anything to drool with anticipation due to potential execution of events for because of personal preferences, this is it. Very nice job! Commence the drooling!

Very nice. I've nowhere near the patience that would require.

He came off without leaving any really bad marks, I might have to try that if I pull a couple. Then I'll have to glue Snig in his place [:D]

Great job -- I might consider getting a SoBD now and doctoring it up.

However, seeing it just reminds me how many more paint steps it really needs to look good...

Now that we know that the original rider can be removed, who wants to replace it with a better one?

The hardest part was the legs and that wasnt that bad with the right tools. My intention is to paint it and fix the few scuffs on the back but if you were using this for RPG it looks fine IMO. I cant wait to see Zanaroth's version. I am no where near his level of skill but I can make it look much better. Thanks for your comments on this. I got three of these in three cases and traded one so I always wanted a huge BD and here it is.

Hmmm, looks kinda funky without the rider. I can't beleive I'm saying this but I think it looks better with the rider.

I think the problem is the shape of the wings, they are positioned with a rider in mind, without it looks like a lot of empty space. I like it but I do see an unnatural look to it...perhaps some bone-parts in the back could help? raise shoulder blades? I am not too proficient with dragon anatomy. [:)]

Good job tho!

Looking good so far. I've been wanting to try this also. When I'll get the time to try it is the problem. Keep up the good work.

I see what you mean about the wings and their position. I wonder if they were moved towards the head a little bit if it would look better. This may be more then I Want to attempt. I still believe it looks pretty good without the rider even though I do agree with comments earlier.

Alot of the dragons w/ the high wings rising straight off their back look MUCH better if bent or curved down to the side or forward. I wonder how that one would look ...

I have to say that I'm impressed. I'd love to see a full doctoring of this figure. Peter Lee likes to cut things up, he could do it I'm sure...

As Chris suggest, sweep those wings forward, sculpt that "wound" and then give it a LOT mroe paint, with a good base...

Peter, Gen Con is only 3 weeks away... you must have some time on your hands now!
