| Seeing grif's pics of pink foam has gotten my juices flowing again. Here is project we have been working on in PINK FOAM. It's a mountain path of sorts

We're going to leave the top empty so it can be customized for whatever is needed, cave for Dire Bear, Dwarven Fortification, Stone Giant Lair, Orc Encampment, etc... | | CHAMPION OF THE REDSPAWN ARCANISS

| | I love your work! How do you cut, sculpt, etc the pink foam to design something like this? I have been very interested in doing something like this. My only problem is where to put all of it. | | Completed Trades: emontedodger | |

| This piece is actually 4 "stepped" pieces of 2" thick foam:

It was mostly done with these two knives:

Wow, there's potentially all kinds of things wrong with a statement like that. [:p]
But seriously, I like the idea. A little paint and some terrain features will, such as boulders, grass, and whatever make this look pretty sharp. | | WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :( I fought the snark and the snark won. I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

No kidding, I read "dwarven fornication" instead of fortification.
In any case, awesome look, I'd love to see it painted and finished [:D] | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis

| | Pink foam combined with spray foam insulation can make some amazing stuff. I see your two knives for sculpting the foam, don't you use a heated wire as well? | | Pathetic Earthlings. I use a Hot Wire Foam Cutter on other foam projects, but really not so much on this one. | | CHAMPION OF THE REDSPAWN ARCANISS

It all depends on the actaul sheet's thickness. But, for the 3/4 inch in an 4X8 foot section I think it is between 10-15 depending on where you get it at....
So it is pretty cheap and very versitile..... | | Ambassador of FUN!!!

| Well I will post progress as it happens, but it will be slow because the guy working on it only does so once a week.
Here is what was accomplished this week:

| | Very nifty! Makes me want to break out my hot foam cutter and get on down to Home Depot! How long did all those pieces take to carve? | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. Wisdom comes from bad judgement. Member Team ROH Qwijoma on Wizards Boards | |

| | This piece is being done by one of the guys in my group. He works on it every Monday for 2-3 hours. It's basically taken 3 weeks to get to this point, but there was a lot of debate on technique and the look of it. So I would probably say 4-5 hours so far. | | CHAMPION OF THE REDSPAWN ARCANISS

| | What kind of foam is that called (other than pink [:)])? I'm trying to find the right stuff, most of it seems too expensive to be the same stuff you're using. | | Champion of the Lamia www.tygrhobbes.com | |

| It's basically insulation board, you can get it at large hardware stores or lumber yards.

| There's also a blue version of that foam. I think the pink vs blue has to do with who manufactured it more than any difference in composition.
Safe travels,
