Well,
It has been a long time, but I thought I'd share an old project I had said I would be doing.  I took some plastic Elephants and I began converting one of them.  I used modelling compound, wood, some chain, & paint to transform it.

The links below show before and then a few after shots.  I hope it inspires someone out there.

As always, comments and ideas welcome.

(P.S.  That there howdah can hold a lot of Gnomes!)

1st question: Where did you dig up the elephants? They look very nice

2nd question: Where's the howdah of gnomes?

Tangent: Since you posted the old elephant I've been working on my giant spider/drow howdah. Hopefully I'll have it finished before Christmas.

Ya know, I'm still not sure what's gonna fill that there Howdah!  It might be Goblins even...

Anyway, I'm building it from scratch out of real wood veneer strips that I cut by hand and am gluing up.  When it's done I'll show the completed piece.

As for the Elephants, I got them at Michaels, a craft and art supply store in Long Island.  I paid $5.99 each, but for the detail and scale, I felt they were worth it.  In fact, they usually have coupons in the paper for like 40% off any one item, so next time, I'll get them cheaper.  They get them from another company, that I forgot the name of, and are displayed with an entire shelf of various types of animals and sea life.

Oh, and P.S.
I got some real cheap, and perfect for size, Spiders that I too will convert.  Let's compare when we finish  : )

Great work, Wyzdum! that looks really good! Got one ready before me, I've still got my elephant on to do -list. Btw, what kind of game are you using elephants in? Elephants seem to be demanding some jungle around them

Nice, hope people have more massive war mounts in the future. Elephants are classic (and very, VERY cool such as your method) but wouldn't hurt to see some others. War whale, anyone?

Thanks All,

I mostly use the War Elephant in RPG's but it can also fill in for some Warhammer battles between friends who don't mind various representations.

Awsome!  I've got a couple of Elephants I've picked up for that purpose, just never got around to it.
