One of my all-time favorite commons.  It looks pretty nice, although the pic quality doesn't look like it does justice.

Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.

Alas, I can't seem to be able to compromise with my camera. It just doesn't care for taking pics of minis .
If I can get better results, I'll repost.

I assume you are using a digital camera, yes? In that case, never use digital zoom. You are much better off ramping the resolution way up and only zoom in to the max of the optical zoom.

5MP Digital camera, no zoom, no flash, tripod, timer, multiple 'natural' light sources, macro setting.

I shoot with small aperature and large aperature and vary the exposure from -1.0 to +1.0 to see which gets the best results (generally about the same)

The camera is physically as close to the mini as it can be and still focus.

Still can't get respectable shots of medium and smaller minis

Here is a quick tip on digital cameras. You do not want to place the camera too close to your mini---try 8 to 12 inches--or 15 - 25 cm for you metric folks----then use any standard photo shop software to zoom in and crop the photo.

That did it. I had my camera too close to the mini. Thanks for the tip, ransom

I changed the background back to my usual white for better light bouncing as well.

Looks awsome I love the ivor staff/mace he has its a really nice touch. The paint also make the cloak seem to have much more depth to it. Another great job.
