So finally had some free time this past weekend so I started my long delayed modification of some DDM minis and painting projects in general. First up on the list is my 2 mariliths. I addressed the biggest problems I and many others had with them, which is their lack of belly scales, weird weapon choice, and confusing breastplate/silver torso. Only greenstuffed so far. Wanted to pull them off and put them on a skull base on top of the DDM one but they are HARD to pop off. Didn't want to break! Anyone who has done please advise! Anyways, on to the pics.... For the first marilith, I went with a pseudo bra top and weapon swap. The swords are from heroes of valhalla and harmonium guards respectively (knew I would find a use for the 8 extra of each I had!)
For the second marilith, the goal was to make the top look like a breastplate. And with the abdominals so prominent I made it a half breast plate. Weapons from same source. Blades on bracers for both are from Dark Eldar sprues I had.
Hope to get started on priming and painting this week. Looking for interesting snake scale patterns as well. Comments/critiques always welcome! Have gotten some work done. Used base from epicast plus some apoxie work on the one. have a second base but want to use that for my reaper marilith. not sure what to do for second base now. suggestions? anyhoo, here is what I got so far...

Finished up. For redhead's base, used an epicast base and then sculpted the stone all around it with apoxie. For the brunette, used stone and flock and a base coat, inkwash and 2 drybrushes. The face came out better with the brunette than redhead. not sure why. Anyhoo, comment away!
