Hello all,

I am looking for seomthing that can hold my minis for me while I paint them. As it is now I hold the Mini in one hand and paint with the other. THanks in advance for any suggestions

The most common methed is to buy a bottle of model paint and use an adhensive to stick it on the top, then hold the bottle. I use a Testors bottle and a dab of super glue, but I paint metal minis, I do not know how it would work on plastic or vinyl. Putty tape wound probably be better for you. If you want a special tool you can use a hobby vise or fly tying clamp. Note that with those tools the mini has to have a slotta tab or you will have to insert a pin to clamp on. They are also expensive.

I use old register receipt rolls (long plastic tubes basically) with some paper from a DDM booster glued on top. Then add poster tac and plant your mini in that. And as my paint bottles run dry I use them as well. Saves ALOT of headache! Painted like you did for years! You can also get a vise clip with magnifying glass, but usually easier to have on something you can manipulate. Good luck!

Old paint bottles with a drop (seriously, no more than a single drop) of super glue.

I still paint using the two-handed method. The trick is to minimize shaking hands by either resting your wrists against the edge of a table (uncomfortable over long periods) or by holding the mini in the off hand (my left) then resting/cupping the right hand on the left wrist (almost like you're holding open a book). Zero hand shakes and you can bring the mini very close for fine work.

I stole/read this idea somewhere...
I 'm new to the painting. (still haven't found the time to finnish one) But I used corks from wine bottles. Stuck the minis on w/ that blue poster tac(?) mixed w/ plastescene... makes a really sticky goop.

One of my friends uses a pair of forceps that can lock closed.  He primes and paints them right on the forceps and then bases them, a pretty good method overall.  The forceps were pretty cheap too must have gotten them for around $5 at a hardware store.

I've got one of those fly lure vices myself.  I don't recall paying too much money for it either.

I have an odd painting style, apparently. I don't hold the mini at all. Instead I lay it on a piece of foam - usually the insert from a minis blister - abd paint it flat. That way I only need to worry about one hand shaking.

See I figure the shaking from one hand will counteract the shaking in the other hand.

I suppose getting a younger relative to hold it for you under some unenforceable threat isn't really all that cool?
