Well I'm a two-fisted kind of gamer, Pulp and Horror being the two favorite minis for me to paint. Right now I'm on a lost world kicker, with Explorers, German Soldiers and Primitives on my workbench.
Copplestone Castings
http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/
Some of the finest Pulp and modern day minis out there. Figures tend towards the more heroic 28mm. There's a nice future wars section as well with some nice looking Predator aliens.
Pulp Figures

This line is very worthwhile too. While not all the figures are as nice as the Copplestone ones, the Weird Menace more than makes up for it. I'm still itching to paint up some of their criminal masterminds.
Artizan Designs

Some very nice pulp and WWII figures here. They also have some stellar looking cowboys too.
Foundry

They run from nice looking historical pieces to Fantasy and even some sci-fi. Depending on the range it's either going to be true 25mm or heroic 28.Â
Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.

Since I use minis expressly for playing Dungeons and Dragons, I tend to stick with Reaper, DDM, and Rakham's Confrontation line (best-sculpted minis available IMO).

I've got a few Rackham minis floating around. They are a bit intimidating to paint with all that detail.

Dennis Mize (RIP) worked for a number of companies. His work STILL outshines everything else, IMHO.
Ral Partha, Reaper, you name it.
