Hi All,
It's been awhile since I checked in so I thought I'd share a couple more scratch built Steampunk minis. I used small wooden blocks that come in bags from Michaels Craft Stores as a starting point. Then I added some bits and pieces from various other sources. The claw arms on both minis came from a certain D&D miniature that I bought about twenty of just for the purpose of cutting them up (I got them real cheap). I bet you can't guess ahich one, (duh, how many dime-a-dozen commons are there with mechanical claws?)
Anyway, I hope you like them, and maybe get some ideas from them.
- Colin

Nicely done. I especially like the smokestack smoke. How did you pull off the effect? It's quite stunning.

Thanks very much. The steam and smoke are both small amounts of teased out fiber wool left over from the fake webbing used at Halloween. I just painted the smoke with some black paint after attaching it to the pipes. The flying automation 's lower material was left white to simulate jets of steam holding it in low flight. It sort of reminds me of a steam powered beholder.
I still have a bunch of hammers left over to use in some more kitbashing - they sorta look like fancy steam tanks
: )
BTW, the miniature tank tracks on the square automation come from a couple of Axis and Allies "Goliaths".

So, you stand at your grave, Has your soul yet been taken away?
So you can't read what's engraved, Is this Heaven or merely Decay?
Was there a light, enchantingly bright, A Question, just how did it end?
Just let me sift through your calm remains, And tear you away from your skin.
