| Hi Everyone.
I'm on holidays for 3 weeks [:D], and I plan on painting a lot of minis.
Rather than hit you with pictures of them all at the end of the holiday, or start 50 seperate threads to display them as I go along, I'm just going to put them all in this thread. The current plan is for an update about this time every afternoon (I'll change the subject when I do it so you know to look again (if you are interested).

Monday update: mostly just preperation so far, but here's the pictures of what I'll be doing over the next weeks:

| Three weeks of vacation is nice! I have three two week vacations over the next four months (huh?), then another two of them later in the year. [:D] All this and a week off every five weeks that I don't take a two week off (man, at 15 weeks, I get too much vacation![)])
Anyhow, back on the topic - Have a ball painting all those minis! It looks like your work is really cut out for you. Just have fun and watch out for mini burn-out. | | | |

| Tuesday update:
Thanks for your comments everyone - and yes 3 weeks is a wonderful amount of holiday (long enough so that you don't feel you are rushing to fit in the stuff you want to do [:D]).
I did a lot more priming today, and finished off 2 minis that had been hanging round half done forever. (Which is why the skin on the goblin is not quite up to my usual standard - I decided I could live with it as it was - the glossiness comes from an ink wash).
Goblin Adept:
I'm not sure if I like the colour of his eyes - if you have an opinion, let me know. I was thinking of making them more orange, but maybe green would be better? (and yes, I know all the browns are the same colour - I'm was sick of him sitting there half painted, and just wanted to get it done).
Celestial Black Bear:
You can't really tell from the photo, but this is totally metallic paints over a black base, with a dark purple wash. It looks really nice.

| I usually give (evil) creatures with darkvision glowing red eyes. Don't know why, but feral goblins with glowing red eyes seemed more threatening.
The bear is much nicer than the standard one, and it's cool that you kept it celestial with the metallic paints. | |

No minis today (stupid work - something that was supposed to take 1 hour, is not fixed in about 8. So, I'm passing it on to someone else to look at). I'm currently about 1/2 way through painting 3 minis, so there'll definatley be something to look at tomorrow (and they are looking very good so far).
Cthulhufnord, thanks for the idea of 2 different coloured eyes, I'm seriously considering it, though I might save it up for something else.

| Thursday update: Sorry, to disapoint, still no minis, I had to do some real life things today - then I totally ruined the face of a cleric of st cuthbert as I was finishing it off, and there is not enough time repaint it and get photos. Also coming is a skullclan hunter, but I need to fix his face too - halfling faces are way too small [)].

| Friday Update: Finally I've finished something (and I'm really happy with it - the amount of time it took was worth it).
 
I did have more contrast on the red cloak, but it didn't really look red anymore - so I put a clear red over the top which has fixed the colour, but reduced the contrast. It's not perfect, but I like it better this way.

| I think you're getting better by the day! Are you using all Reaper Master series?
BTW - You didn't mention what color you were blending in to lighten the red. A bright yellow (like on the smiley face here[:)]) will lighten a red significantly without turning it pink. | | | |

yes, at the moment it's all Reaper Master Series, except the metallics, which are Vallejo Game Colour.
For the red I used Blood Red as the base colour, up to Bright Red for the highlights, and down to Deep Red for the shadows.
I think the biggest problem was that the Deep Red is a bit purple - it looked fine till it was beside the shining metal and the white tabard, but once they were done, it just didn't look red anymore.
I'm very glad I could fix it be using the clear red (also reaper) as a glaze over the top, cause it would have been annoying to have to paint the cloak again. I could probably lighten the highlights by using a clear yellow glaze on them, but I think I'm happy with it now, and doing more would be asking for trouble [)]. | | | |
