Wow the cleric looks realy different now. Looks almost like a infamous Dragonlance character actually. [}:)]

Thanks Orcmonk, that surprised me too.
Sorry Cthulhufnord, I have no idea what you're talking about (I haven't read any DragonLance).

Saturday Update: Skullclan hunter is finally finished.
(I wish I could paint as fast as Runelord, but I guess I'll just have to be patient.) At least I'm happy with how they turn out. [)]

and yes, before you ask those are mittens he's wearing (it seemed way too hard to paint non-existing fingers on such a small hand)[)]

Questions and Comments are welcome.

I like the choice of green for the Skullclan's armor. The armor is also very well done. About Cuthbert--I really like the crispness of the red cloak and shiny armor.

I like the green armor also, you could always say its dragonscales from a Green Dragon or something. Nice and different choice meg.

[:)] actually - once the armour was primed, it looked nothing like chainmail (it has bumps rather than holes) - it really looked like crocodile skin or something similar, so that's what it's painted like (as long as you use some imagination).

Well I'll just think of it as Green Dragon Armor heh. It sounds more heroic than killing an alligator..although a Halfling killing a Crocodile is pretty impressive

Wierd, last night Rune was painting something and said "ooops" gave this guy six fingers" I said something like "what" and then he said "some of them have no fingers." My response was "you have to be kidding me, they have no fingers????!".

I just find it wierd that we had a very similar conversation reguarding fingers on minis!

Well on small and tiny minis it has to be pretty hard to get the fingers to show up sometimes. I can kind of understand it, even if it does look kind of funny.

Sorry, that's my love of obtuse language and hints. The Cleric re-paint strongly resembles(to me) Lord Soth before the Cataclysm.

Thanks everyone.
And particular thanks to Mrs Rune for the laugh about fingers. If it had been medium, the fingers would have been painted on - its just way too small (and you don't even notice unless you hold it 10cm from your nose too look).[:)]

So, now on to:
Sunday Update:Just 3 flameskulls today

The green one looks better in person (it almost glows), but it could probably use a bit more contrast. I'm happy with the other ones.
And for anyone who might be interested, these where mostly done in Vallejo Game Colour paints (the Reaper Master Series colours don't seem quite as BRIGHT - which makes them better for everything else).

I'm not sure I'll have anything finished to show you tomorrow - it depends on how exciting the swimming is tonight (as well as everything else that's happening at the Commonwealth Games).

Questions and Comments are welcome.

I like the blue flames the most, but all three look good. Never considered blackened bones before... wonder if that could improve the Burning Undead Christmas Tree Skeleton?

I like that you made each one a different color, it adds a little bit of variety to the different repaints. Good job like always.

Just incase people are wondering why the skulls are black .... That's what flameskulls are supposed to look like (well the green one anyway).
Here's a link to the offical picture:
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/pgtf_gallery/78876.jpg

Vash, my original plan was to paint a purple one, but the purples I've got were not bright enough, so I went with blue instead. Now I've had some practice, I might do one, but there's other things ahead of it on the list.

taliesin, if you want to see a fantastic burning skeleton (with blackened bones), have a look on runelords website (there'll be a link in his signature on the previous page). (Edit: or his sig in the next post).

I'm surprised you didn't use the Reaper clear green and clear blue to make them even brighter.

Thanks Runelord. [:)]
I didn't go with the clear colours, cause they are more liquid, and therefore impossible to drybrush with, and they would have run into the lighter coloured creases (so instead of the insides of the blue one being white, they would have been a really strong (and darker) blue).
If I'd done the flames the other way round (dark inside, light outside), then the clear colours would have been perfect.

I think there's 9 (but I've only got the first 6).
Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Magenta, Purple.
and the newer ones are: Orange, Viridian, Plum
They are all very bright - which makes them perfect for mixing with normal paint to intensify it, or to use as a glaze (like I did on the Cleric).

I did have more contrast on the red cloak, but it didn't really look red anymore - so I put a clear red over the top which has fixed the colour, but reduced the contrast. It's not perfect, but I like it better this way.

Enjoy. I'll be back with more tomorrow [:)]

Thanks everyone - yes, I really like the blue one too.
Zanaroth, in case you didn't work it out, that's a cleric of St Cuthbert (the original has white hair) - Thanks. [:)]

Tuesday Update:
As predicted, the swimming (and everything else) was very exciting, so I missed yesterday, but I've got one for you today.

THE WALL OF ICE!!!
I had a lot of trouble taking a good photo (they consistently turned out way too blue) - I've adjusted this one a bit, but it's still too blue. In person, it's a slightly bluish very light grey if that makes sense, the cracks are a darker (but still slightly blue) grey. It's hard to see in the photo, but each rock has a white highlight around the edge, and on ridges in the middle - you can just see it on the forehead if you look closely.
I'm really happy with how it's turned out, but very annoyed that I can't take a good photo of it.

Enjoy.
I'll be back tomorrow. [:)]

Nice effect on the Wall, the way that was before your treatment reminded me of a grey tone mini, now is something with a "personality"...

keep on

This one I can actually give you a step-by-step guide as there's only 4 steps [:)]
1. wash mini and prime with white.
2. paint whole mini with RMS ghost white (a very light blueish grey - almost the same colour as VGC wolf grey/Citadel Space Wolves Grey) - you'll probably need several coats to get even coverage.
3. paint the cracks (and up the sides of the crystals) with thinned RMS Snow Shadow (a darker version of the previous colour - I can't find a match in the VGC or Citadel - you could probably mix one from the previous colour + sombre/shadow grey + cold/codex grey). Uneven is good.
4. highlight the edges of all the crystals with white, and also any ridges in the flat surface. I used a small flat brush to do it, brushing across the edge rather than along it (this makes it a bit uneven which works better than a hard line).

I hope that helps [:)] Enjoy the painting (and don't curse at me too much when it seems to take forever to do the highlighting) [)] (I think the hightlighting took me about 2.5 hours).

I like it. I was looking throught the bin the other day thinking something had to be done about that wall. Great choice of colours. The sculpt of this mini lends itself to looking like ice too. I had thought to do one up as a Magma wall, or a really psychedelic stained glass window elemental (but I don't know if I could pull that one off or not).

What's next?
