| | wow the Wall of Ice looks wonderful. I think I'll stick with making the regular elements because personally I dont know if I could do a Wall of Ice as good as you. I'd want it to look pretty similar, but I dont think I can do it. Looks pretty sweet, good job meg. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka | |

| I really like the Blue and Green Flameskulls, and the Wall of Ice is very good work, too.
I wish I had the guts to start painting again, but then I'd have to go through a couple hundred dwarves, chaos thugs/marauders/warriors, space marines, genestealers, et al. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

Wednesday Update: Wood Woad today
I'm not totally sure it's as good as it could be, but it's a lot better than the original.

| Nice job on the wood woad, Meg - I never really noticed the bark until now. And the ice elemental - fantastic. I might give that a bash myself (got way too many large earth-elemental-types as it is).
Thanks for the update - always a pleasure :)

Thursday update: No picture today (sorry) I'm almost finished a Druid of Obad-Hai, but I don't want to rush it just so I can put a photo up this afternoon. It's looking really good so far, and I'd like to finish it properly.

Nicely done. The only thing I would do, is add some white to your antler color, then shade to an almost pure white on the tips of the anlters.

I'm with rune for the antlers, and, to me, the overall mini need a pair of dark wash (with brown mixed to black and washed very lightly)

| Looks great! I'm with the others on the antler thing. They are usually white at the tips, fading through white on light brown down to darker coloured brown and textured at the base.
One thought I have, now that I'm looking at this fig with a critical eye, is that the antlers look a little too rounded. Deer use them as a weapon, and they have pointy ends and not rounded ones. If you could cut them/file them to get that kind of look, then do the white paint thing it would look totally awesome. Very nice work. That cloak is excellent.
As to the antlers, the best idea is to find pix of real antlers and copy what you see. Such as:

| That cloak is superb. The mini overall is very light, and a wash would improve it. I don't know what you can do aboutn the antlers, since I've hated them on the sculpt all along and don't think any paint job could improve them.

| Thanks everyone for your comments about the antlers, I've changed them, but not to exactly match antlers like Sulaco suggested. I looked at some pictures, and all the antlers with white points and dark bases also have sharp points (which these are not). So, I've changed them so they are lighter allover, and shaded up to almost white points - they are not like real antlers (this is fantasy afterall) but they are more interesting, and show up more than they did before (and I'm happy with them now). (I'll take new photos this afternoon). Thanks for your help.
I don't generally do washes on my minis cause I can't get them to work right. (If anything needs a dark line or shading, it works better for me to actually paint it exactly where I want it).
For those who commented on the leaves, they are part of the sculpt. [)] I didn't set out to paint this mini as either a man or woman - I just put paint on the face - if you think it looks female, can you try and workout why, and let us know. (Though maybe it's just the hair - which is now visible).
Thanks | | | |

| Ok, here we have the changed druid from yesterday (antlers have been changed) - yesterday's picture is still there if you want to compare (and the links in Runelords reply now link to the changed one).[:)]
As I said this morning, they are not the same as real antlers, but they are more interesting now than they were.
Which brings us too: Saturday Update: todays is an easier one [:)] but, I like it.
It's from a bit earlier in the cooking process [)]

| I strongly agree with zenthrus' assessment of the changes in the druid. I don't think there's much room for improvement anymore.
As far as that second one (the wrackspawn)--I have to run and hide. Such a nice repaint (druid) in the same post as a sculpt of such a pathetic creature nearly causes pandemonium[:p] | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse

| Monday update: as promised ....

It's not as good as Runelord's, but I'm reasonably happy with it -the black wash didn't work very well (when I paint this mini again, I'll do the black lines by hand rather than trying to do it faster with a wash). I counted 45 spiders (counting them as I painted them) but I probably missed a couple [:)]. The black ones with red stripes on their backs are Redbacks (cause I could go outside, and check what they look like) ... the rest are not based on anything real.
Enjoy [:)] | | | |
