| They are pretty cool looking but a bit smaller than DDM. I haven't had a chance to play the game yet but after reading the rules it looks pretty solid.
I wouldn't pay more for them than DDM thats for sure. You can get complete sets on ebay for $160-180us. Actually I may just sell my set and keep enough to demo the game. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| depends...
first, I'm buying AAM without any real alternative motive... they really can't be used for anything other than the mini game, where DND minis are great for RPGing, and skirmish games...
second, if you are the only one buying them, or you don't have friends who will play the game with you, then there really isn't a reason to buy it...
now, having said that, i'll tell you that it's MUCH easier to 'collect' AAM than DnD minis, just because there are only 15 rares in the whole set, a case of 12 boosters that i bought had NO repeats in it (as i've heard, no one else got repeat rares in any of their cases, either)... so a case of boosters *should* leave you with only 3 rares remaining to complete your set...
the game itself is quite fun and concise... a game takes about 45 minutes. the hexes are nice for distance measuring (not like Mech, where 1/16th of an inch would matter immensely...) the gameplay is great, with very little (IMHO) that doesn't make sense...
note, this game is BASED on historical figures and units, so the units may not live up to expectations of a history nut... if you are looking for historical accuracy, this isn't the game for you...
overall, it's a great game, and i bet i'll find myself paying less than i do for DnD minis... | |

| | yeah it kinda sucked, I figured my chances of a complete set were pretty good when I only needed 8 and had 12 boxes to open then I got the first dupe, then I was down to the last 3 boosters and only needed 1 more and they were all dupes. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| | I got a duplicate Tiger 1 in my case too. I am not complaining though. I could have gotten a much worse duplicate IMHO. | | | |

| Last night 3 guys at the FLGS bought a case each and 2 starters. Every one of them got 2 dupes in the boosters, and they all had the starter rares in their cases, so three guys ended up with 4 dupes. I couldn't even read the tiny writing inside to know what they were. The figures are really light weight, but had good detail. Paint jobs were pretty much monochrome, but then we're not talking a Napoleonic campaign. There are lots of tiny sculpts. I couldn't see the value, but these guys were pretty excited. All of them were talking about doing custom paint jobs on their favorite armies. So for those who are into WWII, I think AAM is a success. | | I have always been here. | |
