| | I was really interested in this game till I learned the official tournament would be limited to the US. I like play DDM but in do like competitive game and in my area DDM has lost that and it is all about the fun which doesn't bother me. I would have really like to play in some competitions that where high stress from prizes since that is a test of both army building skills and your ability to play under stressful condition. So like a I said I not going to bother with this game anymore because it seems only the US will get full support. | | | |

| That's right, the golden land of opportunity. Overseas? Corvus Belli's Infinity is looking hot in Italy Confrontation in France GW in England Hmm, other minis games?
Yup--depending on where you're located you might NEVER get a game with play more organized than what you can scramble up yourself. Sorry! | | *WoTC Delegate (Chicago)* :=: My Trade Thread :=: DISPUTED TRADE WITH TREE DRUID!!!!!!!!

| why do you think that? WotC knows that Canada is a big market for them.. the largest DDM tournament EVER was held in Canadaland.
If you think that Ian and Shoe and all those folks dont think about Canada when they plan things like tournament schedules, I feel you might be smoking a bit too much igloo crack. | | Minis... Serious Business Completed Trades (18 ) | Pending Trades (0) Ebay seller to Avoid –Fantasy_Quest_Dist

| They didn't include Canada in the tournament page so I am assuming that there will be none since that is all I have to go on. Also your really need to stop with the expression like "Canadaland and igloo crack" it is annoying, a little offensive and make you look like a bigot.

| or it makes you look hyper-sensitive and lacking in a sense of humor. or, my apologies, humour.
Ou peut-être si je commutais au Français il serait meilleur. Je faisais une plaisanterie. Svp, essai à détendre.
Now - where has there been a comprehensive list of tournament locations published by WotC? If so, I havent seen it. the only thing I have seen is a list that this community has generated of likely locations. We are still 5 months away from the release. If you are going to quit a game before it has come out, why bother to tell us about it? | | Minis... | I am sorry I just dislike people who are bigots, I work part time at a computer help line and I get a lot Americans who act like jerks once they learn they are talking to a Canadian. So I am sorry I snapped it is just a sore spot with me, I also get a lot of nice Americans as well to be fair. I was a little miffed when I read the thing and I guess I wrote that with hopes someone would prove me wrong. I went about it the wrong way to, but as it stand there is an official release on tournament on the Dreamblade website http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dbm/op/20060313a and it makes no mention of tournaments outside of the US. P.S. English is fine I am better at speaking it and Japanese then French.

Damn yanks got no sensitivity by da Jesus.
On topic, it sort of irks me too that we see no official support prize wise in Canada yet, but I'm sure we will be the first outside the US to see major support. That said, Canada does sort of suck a bit for OP in general since our pop is so distributed. Hosting a tournament in the great satan of Toronto and calling it a National Tournament excludes great swathes of our players - most are simply too damn far away and these big tournies probably do less to grow the game up here than down there. Its the one thing that bugs me about DDM too (and its not anyones fault), I've got a great DCI ranking but unless I'm willing to travel 1500km to Montreal, 1800km to Toronto or 2000km to the US north east I'll never know if I'm any good or not (Do not say vassal, its an awful interface imho).
And as a citizen of Soviet Canuckistan you should be able to take a bit of a ribbing, I mean look at the material we have to work with south of the border!

| | Hey at least you are land locked I am trapped on PEI and it sucks. There is a really good bunch of players here but I never get to any of the big games because it is to bloody expensive to cross the bridge to the main land. I recently sent them a e-mail asking if they will be offering support for the game in Canada, I will post their responce once I get it. | | | |

| | From what I've heard they are still ironing out the tourney stuff. I wouldn't give up hope yet, but I also (if you don't wanna) wouldn't sink money in it until you find out. | | Champion of Jarlaxle Sets: Star Wars Year one complete,44/60 Champions of the Force,0/60 Bounty Hunters | |

| I would have to say to also not give up hope. In the General Discussions thread, Ian from WotC asked for people to send him questions, if you are curious, drop him a line.

My appologies - they really did say that was in the US. Its very surprising.. mostly because Ian isnt a native of the US and is apparently aware of the rest of the world's existance. Sometimes Americans (like many other countries in the world) have a tendancy to forget other people live out there.
As for the french - Im glad, because getting my wife to translate into french for me isnt going to fly.
Now - you will have to simply trust me that I dont actually hate canada or canadians. But for some stupid reason, it amuses me. So for every dumb joke I make about Canada, just make one back about the US. :-D or just tell me Im an idiot and spit on me virtually.

| O.K. then "Ack: you're an idiot". [:D]
Honestly, the tournement scene does not interest me. Not only because I live in the middle of nowhere (at least PEI has a bridge to cross, Newfies have a ferry, and everyone else has paved roads!), but because the game doesn't hold enough interest for my very scarce $$$. I might pick up a couple of PC / Aberration worthy singles, but that's it.
Anyway, just my 2 ep worth,

I would agree that Ian is very aware of the rest of the world, but it mihgt not be his call. WotC is a corporation and in such has layers of management that could stop something a long the way. I would not give up hope though as thingsd have been know to change without people even realizing it. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event
