| There is a post on the Official boards that states there are only 500 spots for the release tourney. How paranoid should I be that these will fill up quickly?
I was going to wait until I qualified for the DDM finals before signing up but since that won't be unitl end of May/Begining of June I might pre-register now. | | Champion of the Rust Monster Proud Member of Team Amish

| | I would recommend pre-registering for it, sounds like it could fill up fast. If you can't make it to the event just cancel and get a refund. | | **overlong signature deleted. Please see posting guidelines** | |

| I would do the pre reg and drop if you don't want to be in it or end up not wanting to play. You can get a refund if you go before the event and drop it.
500 slots is huge. I wonder how many will not play but just grab product and leave? | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event

| | I rather expect it will fill up well before Gencon. I plan on registering as soon as registration opens. Anybody know when that is, btw? | |

| I'll probably sign up ahead of time as well. I don't personally know 500 people that are buzzing about the game and likely to be @ the con, but come 5/1, I'm SURE the spots will go in less than a week.
If other pre-release tournies are any exception, at least 10% of the field plays till their first loss and then scoots with the loot (a classic 'loot 'n scoot' move!)

| I would think that the event will fill up fairly quickly especially as there is a cash prize.
I'll be signing up on 5-1 just to make sure I get a slot. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event

| Entry fee - possibly $45 (1 Starter, 1 booster) Maybe less - seeing how it is the debut event. | | | |

Earlier, Ian specifically said they scheduled things so playing in the DDM Championships would not conflict with playing in the Dreamblade prerelease. Of course, GenCon being what it is, playing in Dreamblade will keep you out of about 200 other concurrent events [:)]

| Registration at Gen Con revovles around your badge. Without a badge, you do not have access to the Hotel system (and will thus pay about 30% more per night for a room, IF you can find one), and you cannot preregister for events.
Event preregistration has not yet begun, as mentioned it kicks in on the first of May.
One thing to keep in mind, at the last 2 Gen Con's, WotC premiered a new Mini's game, in 2004 it was Star Wars, last year it was Axis and Allies.
For both of these events, the only way to register for the first tourney was to first participate in the Demo down in the Exhibit hall, and then come up and register in person.
I haven't seen anything official that indicates that they will, or will not manage the dreamblade tourney differently than the last 2 years.
Fortunatley, we'll have some time to review the registration list online before the first, and that should reveal all...

| | I can't remember were I heard this, but IIRC the DB release date is the week before GenCon. | | They just don't know what's good in life...Conan, tell them what is good in life. To rip the boosters. To count the minis spilled out before you, and to hear the indifference of the women... | |

| Newtoncain-
Not sure if you are correct on the date. The offical release date, as provided by my local distributer, is 8/9/06. That would be the Wednesday before GenCon offically starts. I thought I heard the first week of August also but this information seems to dispute that.
I will be selling boosters and cases of Dreamblade once it comes out so keep your eyes open for the post. I should be able to sell boosters for around $10 each, starters at $20-$22 each and 12 booster cases for around $110 each, all plus shipping. | | **overlong signature deleted. | I would think that as it is WotC event and they are supplying the product that the price will not be $45 per person. I'm hoping they can some how keep it to $25 each like so many of their other sealed events.
I'm wondering if this one will be different then the last two years as they limited the event to 100 players for AAM and SWM, IIRC. I'm thinking they might do a preregistration for this event. They might also do a release event for the AAM Naval battle game like they did the last few years. Just a simple guess on my part. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event

Gen Con will work with us to get a reimbursement, or at least a credit to our account. I'll be getting a badge, and signing up for the dreamblade tourney if they do open it up from day 1...

| I tried purchasing a Dreamblade slot at 1201 pst and saw that there was one spot left. By the time the server actually got through to the cart, I was frozen out. It's a little aggravating that WOtC/GenCon was informed about the slot count error over a week ago and couldn't fix the problem.

| The problem has been fixed.
484 slots left . . . soon to be 483!
That's a lot of people, but I would definitely pre-reg ASAP, just in case. Once people find out that the max size limit's fixed, they might go quickly.

I just took spot #483! With the prize support, I also expect several hundred of these to go over the next day or so. Anyone interested in the game will have to take the chance on scoring some prizes for the cost of some product they would have bought anyway.
