| | I'm new to maxminis, and I don't mean to sound confrontational, but what point does this forum serve? Doesn't the Wizards.com forum work just as well? As it is, we have to keep track of two different forums which do exactly the same thing. Maybe if there were Dreamblade miniatures to trade or sell, or if Wizards.com somehow censored their message boards, but I'm just not getting the point of this forum. | | | |

| Alright, so MaxMinis is primarily a fan-driven site involving the game, tournament plan and trading ... and online play with Vassal. At least, this is the model for DDM and SWM.
Anyone who follows those games will tell you the best DDM strategy guides are found here. The best tactical discussions are here. Official content is on the Wizard's boards.
There are freedoms, latitude, etc. that a fan site can have by virtue of NOT being "official". We don't serve "every customer" ... just the subset of fans and collectors who wish to join the community.
Plus we've got a reputation as a cool-headed, easy-going group that encourages the Wizard's staff to come, visit, drop by and participate. For DDM we run MaxMinis tournaments at the major cons and since they are non-DCI-sanctioned the WOTC folks can actually PLAY. They are fans too, and here they can be fans along with the rest of us (of course, their WOTC hat is never fully removed).
Simply put, we're a fan site and (I'm biased here) a pretty darn good one.
If you want credentials, check out the general forum for the spoiler lists and speculation on upcoming sets. Look at the stats lists, strategy guides already forming for Dreamblade (which were the basis of the info that showed up on the official forums - it was here first). Look at the amount of correspondence between the developers and fans.
And when the minis are finally available to sell/trade we'll have those sections on here as well - meshed with the stat gallery, have/want system, tournament calendars, etc. just like DDM, SWM and AAM.
Plus, we were here first for Dreamblade [)] I think we were up two weeks or so before the official forums. Squatters rights and all that !

| So nicely put Chris!
I do beleive you are correct in saying we were up for about 2 weeks prior to the WotC forum for Dreamblade, that is just plan fun. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event | |

| It's a good set of more casual, less "official" boards.
Mostly, I'm thinking spoilers here, but also custom titles, avatars, all sorts of cool stuff. | | Official Delegate, Wizards of the Coast Against The Giants Called Shot: Huge Green Dragon Icons Called Shot: Gargantuan Prismatic Dragon
