| Hey, why didn't I think of that for CPG? [:)] What a cool idea!

| I wonder if they have included all the stats in their generator. That is, will enough downloads ulyimately result in full spoilers? I'll know soon enough. Why did they have to do this before my Qualifier!

| Yes, I misunderstood what they were saying. They meant print out multiple copies of the starter pack to have more than one copy of each miniature. The virtual Starter Pack always contains the same 16 minis. The pdf looks really nice!

| This is incredibly innovative marketing. Nothing new about it in absolute terms. Card board stand ups, spoilers, rules, picture of the map, answering questions online, etc... it's all been done before. But the way it's being put together *is* new. The comprehensive, integrated approach, capped now by giving away game pieces shows that WotC is working on all cylinders with DB.
They're clear that they sell 1) quality figures and 2) the experience (to use an overused word) of intense tournament play. Neither of those are threatened by "giving away" the game components in picture/cardboard form. Or by letting people use their IP (ala VASSAL). WotC shows again, IMO, that they're some of the sharpest on the block.
Oh, and marketing aside the more I get into the actual game the more I think it rocks. At the end of the day the play's the thing no matter how slick the marketing. And DB plays very, very well, even with the small set of figs available.

| | This is awesome, and exactly the type of thing I was hoping for! Now I can start playing with friends locally. Haven't had much time for minis at all over the past month, but if I can combine with local social activities, I might just get the practice I want before GenCon... | | -DaemonKain Proud Mascot of Team Amish | |

| This is fantastic. We have all the info right on the card.
I'll be printing this off tonight and playing around with it. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event

| While I love VASSAL, I can also appreciate the physical manifestations of the digital images I have been playing with. Besides, the starter makes it much easier to demo the game AND provides us with more info on pieces.
A++

| VASSAL is alright, but this concept of printable pieces is fantastic. I find that the lack of time in VASSAL does not give me a true feeling for an event, but this would allow you to actually play.
Thanks WotC! This is a fantastic concept! | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event

| For those of you not on the WotC boards, I've mimicked the Virtual Starter set and created pieces for every spoiled figure so far, so that's 23 additional figures ready to be printed, cut, folded, and played.
Email me or IM me on Yahoo!, at magewebmaster, to get the pieces.
EDIT: Oh, and I *did* have some fun with the images on the pieces, so don't complain to me if your favorite piece has some kooky image on it...it's my set, after all. :) The images are culled from the Web, so they're a bit pixelated even with modification, but they work. Looks best in Acro Reader 6.0 or higher. | | My blade and your nightmares shall combine to conquer the Dreamscape.

| | I played a couple of games with the virtual starter set today and I've got to say that Dreamblade is very different than any of the other minis games that I've played. I like that maneuvering isn't just the prelude to combat, but can actually lead to victory on its own. | | | |

23 figures... not bad. We are getting close to knowing the whole set. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event
