I'm surprised this has not already been posted, but the WotC site now has a page announcing the availaibility and explaining the role of "Dreamblade Rules Advisor". Follow this link http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dbm/op/20060627a for the full explanation and a link to the test.

The short version is that passing an online test qualifies you as a Rules Advisor for Dreamblade. This signifies that you have a pretty good understanding of the rules, sufficient to be the judge at a local event, or even the player that everyone asks questions of during the event.

Being a Rules Advisor is a sort of stopgap position until they fully integrate a true Dreamblade judge program within the regular DCI/MtG judge program. To become an actual judge, you will need to take further tests later, including knowledge of th DCI Universal Tournament Rules. This Rules Advisor test covers Dreamblade rule information only.

The test is online and open book. The Dreamblade rule manual (and especially the glossary) is the source for the answers to all the questions. There are 25 questions, and you will need to get 22 right. The questions themselves are very satisfying - they are realistic and they are worded very clearly. Basically, anyone who has learned in the Guy F School of Literal Interpretation will understand how to answer these questions. As a bonus, I learned a few more important game principles while passing the test.

You can take some practice tests before taking the real one. Do so, because if you fail the real one, you must wait 2 days to retake.

Anyone reading this forum is a candidate to take this test, adn I encourage you to do so. Figure taking two practice tests and the real thing, and you can be done in 90 minutes. Get out there and support the community by being able to explain and interpret the rules better!

Let's hear the success stories people. I know some of you have passed, because the WotC site has a thread on the topic. I passed with 96% on the first try, I'm sure there have been others.

I passed with a 92%. It's definitely a great way to learn the rules.

I failed with an 84%, then passed with a 100%.

I've also taken the practice tests innumerable times, just to get spoilers.

I just passed with a 100% (after two 90% practices), though more just to help me learn the rules than to be an actual rules advisor. While I do find the game pretty interesting, I still haven't decided if I'm going to be getting into it or not. Though with a 1k tourney in my hometown... chances are I'll try it up til that point at least. [:)]

I took the test and passed.

I felt it was necesary because the local gaming store wants me to demo the game.
