Subject: Spawning Question...

I played my first game of Dreamblade yesterday and it was very fun. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Quick question, though...
The rules say that I can only spawn in a column where I already have a figure. Does this mean that in turn one, the only place I can spawn is in the portal? So if I have enough points to spawn 3 figures, they must all start in the Portal? Just checking to make sure it isn't different for turn 1.

Correct.
You can always spawn in the portal, fyi.

The portal is exempt from the stacking limit. (DB rulebook pg. 19)

With respect to creatures, not locations (this is why I didn't want to quote a single specific rule saying you always could). In addition, future abilities could prevent that somehow, etc. etc.
In general, you can always spawn there.

This is a very important step also. Looking to how you want to spread out your minis to gain points and where you can spawn more minis is a huge strategy. I know most people follwo the same opening move, but some people have been trying some new moves.
