The Scarab Warcharm already has a high price, with bids up to $41.
Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

And I have no idea why. Skirmish and Advance are nice blade abilities, but it's defense/health are rather fragile. What am I missing?

Because with a good roll (comboed with a powerhouse) means that you can move pretty much your whole army at once for free. I pulled one today.

Consider the Drider Sorcerer in ddm. Adaquate stats, excellent ability to move allied units around, no liabilities of any kind and a little too cheap for what it does. That describes the Scarab exactly.
And Blade-Skirmish in Dreamblade is better than transpose in ddm. It's more like Transpose+snakes swiftness combined.
