The Bodyguard ability states that my opponent cannot assign damage to other creatures until enough damage has been dealt to each creature with Bodyguard to disrupt or destroy them.

If I only have one creature with Bodyguard, does my opponent have to do enough damage to destroy that creature or can he opt to simply disrupt that creature?

If it is the latter, then I don't exactly see the point in mentioning destroying in the rules text.

Thanks!

Your oponent may choose.

I suspect that the reason for mentioning both is the vast experience WotC have with rules lawyers and people trying to break the game by "Misunderstanding" abilities that give them an advantage. By being explicit they are preventing much of this.

[/QUOTE] Because all it takes is another Defense booster for it to be possible for the Inspired samurai to have a higher defense than life. At the moment they can be equal. A friendly Sir Glorious adds 2 to defense and an unfreindly Skull Hill subtracts 1 from life leaving it a 7/7. Future proofing is good. Plus it stops arguements.

1. Sir Glorious only boosts Janus units.

2. Skull hill takes away from defense, not life.  Gateway to Psychosis takes away from Life.
