I'm about to plunk down cash on a case, but I wanted to get opinions first: boosters or starters? Starters make the figs cheaper per mini, but I'm wondering if it even matters.

If you want to complete the Commons and Uncommons with one Case then the Startercase is a good choice. If you want to get the rares and you decide to take more then one case then the Booster are the better choice

Boosters every time.
You get more rares and will have doubles to trade for other stuff that you want.

Depends on what you are after, the starters net you dice etc and 2 more pieces, but the boosters will get you 1 more each uncommon and rare.

Myself I have only purchased 2 boosters so far.  I have bought 4 starters in total, giving me a large set of dice to work with and a fair sized collection to build my warband from.  Only the last starter had figures in it I didn't really want (the rare was another Shard Troll), but in general I've been far happier with my random pulls than I have ever been with booster purchases of D&D or Star Wars.

If you're just starting, I'd recommend at least two starters in order to get a decent sized selection of commons to start with and then go for boosters after that.

After WotDQ, I don't think I can recommend buying a case again...
