Wow is all I can say - here's the poop...

Bad Kitty - 3F  Common

2  3|5

SB: Venom 2 - Assign 2 Venom points to target local creature. Each phase if a creature is assign ed wvnom points equal to or greater than its spawn cost, destroy that creature.

Very nice - Venom could be interesting.

Soul Serpent - 6F   Uncommon

3  5|7

SB: Venom 3 - you all know venom by now.
MB: Venom 1

Ok - Venom is going to see major amounts of play.

Baxar the Soulstitcher - 10F   Rare

5  8|11

SC X: Put a creature with spawn cost X from your graveyard into this cell (WOW!!)
SB: Deathboon - If target local enemy is destroyed this combat, put a creature from your graveyard into your reserves.

This guy rocks!  Enjoy!

Baxar is freakishly powerful...up to the point of being broken because it combos with pretty much everything.
Looks like Wizards may have cut themselves in the fingers though because once again they're going to have to do a SERIOUS rules change, this time regarding unique creatures.

As it stands now, you can spawn a unique creature, use corpsebuilt to put a second one in the graveyard and then use Baxar to bring a second unique into play (since the creature isn't actually spawned), something I'm SURE wizards wouldn't have intended.
You could even bring 2 Baxar's into play with this...
This undoubtedly won't last for long though, I expect Wizards will implement some kind of Magic-like Legend rule in the near future.
You'd really think the designers would have spend more time figuring the rules out before they released this game...to be perfectly honest the rulemaking is just sloppy.

Anyway even without the above exploit, Baxar is a house and will probably maintain Fear as the single most powerful and dominant aspect...it may not even need Valor anymore.

I don't find Venom particularly impressive, most of the time I'd rather have a crit blade ability since I can actually choose whether to disrupt or destroy the creature with the extra damage.

I agree Baxar is uber-strong. it's spawn ability, is like Dr.Ape (at zero cost) combiined with giving the spawned creature "Reinforce Baxar".
However, WotC did cover the multiple Uniques problem, rules P.39;
"If you somehow control more than one miniature with the same Unique ability, sacrifice all but one of them."
So while you could use Baxar to place a second Baxar, you'd have to sacrifice one of them.

The virtue of Venom is that most creatures have a spawn cost a lot lower than their life. So venom-3 can kill a creature with 6 or 7 life.
Liability is it doesn't stack with normal damage. e.g. If bad-kitty rolls 2 damage & a blade against a Zombie enforcer, nothing happens. The same rolls by a blind spikemauler would destroy the Zombie.
So while venom-2 is (usually) worse then Crit-4. Venom-4 (galive scorpion) is about equal to crit-8 and you don't see many creature with crit abilities that high.
I'd expect to see the better venom creatures used in multiples & the worse ones either won't be used or only used to support the stronger ones.

Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

I just realized that Venom is not optional - if you roll the blade you must assign the Venom. This may temper it somewhat.

Baxar is pretty nasty - I can see the Baxar + Gent(s) bands already brewing.

Hmm hadn't noticed that unique entry. Looks like they took appropriate countermeasures by implementing a magic like legend rule before the set was released. An nice try on their part but Baxar is still broken (also Doctor Ape only puts a creature from the grave back in your reserves where baxar puts it directly in play, and even in the middle of combat so comparing the two is a bit of a stretch if you ask me.)

Anyway speaking of Gent, I just noticed something else. Gent doesn't work with critical, but it DOES work with venom.
Since Gent is in madness I'm not sure this will make venom much more viable but it's interesting to note that if you have a gent and a scorpion in combat with an opponents Scarab Warcharm, you can kill the blasted thing before the action phase even begins

I did make that comparisson, specifically to show how OTT Baxar's abilty was compared to the nearest equivalent in the base set.
I guess I only half expressed my meaning...
