| | There are 96 minis in the base set, 24 for each Aspect and 8 of each rarity (common, uncommon, and rare). As for Baxar's War there are 60 minis, 15 for each aspect and 5 for each level or rarity. | | | |

| | Kind of like with D&D minis, which started with an 80 miniature set. I wonder why WotC makes base sets larger than the expansion sets? Must be some kind of marketing strategy there. Not that I'm complaining about the size of expansions. 96 minis would be way too many for every set. | | "Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." - Albert Einstein Champion of Myopic Half-Orcs Winner, WBC X | |

| | I imagine it's to put a larger variety of figures out there so everyone has some warband building options and not forced to play the same thing. | | | |

| While it's clear that WotC "wasted" most of the 96 slots in the base set. And I have even read posts justifying this as "unavoidable". The 23 previews we have seen from Baxar's do include over 50% playable units. So (a) Baxar's looks a much more playable set than the base set was. (b) Anyone who claimed 80% of units being unplayable as "unavoidable" was wrong.

| It is really hard to say at this point that a mini is "unplayable".Â
One of my most hated figs is the doomball. I figure(d) that he is (was) a waste completely. Sure, he had awesome stats, but he distroyed himself. How stupid an idea was that!?!?!Â
But then we get some previews from BW and we find out that there is a way for you to bring all those figures back from the graveyard. You can even bring them right back to Baxars own cell. Now it is not SUCH a bad figure at all and it might even make its way into a warband or two.Â
The other one that gets no love (and certainly is not one of my favorites) is the Lone Wolf. Talk about trash, especially since none of that 8 power can actually be used to fuel blade abilities. That was until we got a location with blades that he can now use. Does that lone wolf now see some extra play???
So from these examples, I think it would be safe to make the following statement. The stats of the fig cannot be considered in a vaccuum. They act and react to other figs in a set (and other sets) that make them better (or worse). We have not seen, fully, a second set at all, so I am going to reserve judgement on what is playable or not. In DDM, the Inspiring Marshall wasn't considered a teir one piece until one (or even two) expansions had been released. Now it is the benchmark by which all other figs were measured.
As far as the number of figs in a set, I am glad to see so many figs in a starter set. It is the way it should be. It gives the games (and limited games especially) some variety. Take away 36 figs (to get down to 60), and this set becomes far less interesting.

| The inspireing marshal is a poor example. I had Inspireing Marshal identified as a Tier-1 unit the day the the spoiler list was posted. And brought 2 as soon as it came on the market. The fact that it took 3 months before the other units to create a tier-1 warband from it existed, just proves how "unplayable" the rest of the CG units were at that time. Depends which 36 figures you drop from the base set, but I own less than half the 96 units in the base set. And I would not notice if the rest had never been made. Except that I would not get some trivially easy (boring) wins against players who played them because they do think that "anything is playable". Even if anything "might become playable" in combo with a future set. That doesn't mean they are now. And to quote a different example from ddm. Everyone was hoping the various Dire-animals whould become playable with the greenfang Druid. Instead the dire-bear was produced at the same time & basically outclaased all the previously unplayable dire-animals.
