| | All right, I know how dumb it is for me to be posting this, but I just bought some Dreamblade figures (for rpg use) off Ebay, and. . . wow. WOW. I've played D&D minis, Mage Knight, Mechwarrior, and this is the first time that the pieces in person blow the screenshots completely out of the water. The level of detail on some of the figures (Saint of Roses, the inscriptions and googly eyes on Gateway to Psychosis) is ridiculously good.
As I said, I don't play Dreamblade, but with figures that look like this, I actually want to start. Hats off to you, Wizards.
Cheers,
Dagonet

| Maybe it's just me, but I find most of the good looking minis in dreamblade to have unplayable stats in the game. The Saint of Roses has "defender". And the Gateway to psychosis hurts both players equally. So you end up playing things like Cannibal Pariah & Scarab warcharm. Whose artistic merits are at best uninspired.
That problem seems to have improved a bit with the Baxar's expansion. The Ragedrake & the Virtuous Maiden are both playable.
My guess is that WotC are miss-applying a design rule from ddm. i.e. you can make all the minis sell by making some attractive & giving others strong game stats. And doing both to the same mini (in ddm) just results in it getting annoyingly expensive on e-bay {e.g. Red Dragon, Beholder} But dreamblade isn't ddm. I'd think it would be good advertising for the game if at least one of the tier-1 warbands was composed entirely of the better looking minis. | | Don't worry about the current metagame. | There are quite a few minis that will work well for RPG but they are hard to get apart from their large bases. They could easily work for large creatures though.
My main gripe is the clear plastic - I find it gitchy and kind of a cop out for what should be a good paint job. IMO the Cyclopean Sprite is one of the nicest scuplts in the set - but you cant tell cuz all that crappy see thru plastic detracts from the detail. Angel of Sunrise looks like a cheap dollar store christmas ornament.
I pull 3 Sprites - maybe I'll paint one up...

| I, On the other hand, really like the clear plastic. It looks very nice, and in some places adds very much to the piece. The Alluring Succubus is one such piece. But again, everything in moderation, as too much clear plastice can be... less than satisfactory, to put it mildly. But if used correctly, as an accent, it can be spectacular. Imagine ghosts, or lightning arcs, the limits are only good taste.

| Clear plastice works on some minis. The Eater of Hope & Flameharrower are both excellant looking figures.

| | I like the clear plastic as an accent (such as the poltergeist, the shard troll, the concubine), but less when it is more dominant (succubus) | | Champion of Aspect of Juiblex (with Oozemaster) and Aspect of Skurmsh! | |
