| I heard from a local game store manager that the release promo miniture for the Chrysotic Plague set is a Repainted Scarab Warcharm. It has Green Clear Plastic instead of Blue. Not sure of any other differences.
Can anyone confirm this?
If true, is this a good sign for the game or a bad one?
Good; The Dev's are perhaps creating a level of balance by making a highly desirable piece available, and doing so in a way that allows younger players and newer players to get their hands on one without having to sell a kidney.
Bad; The game is already suffering from some lag, this is a marketing scheme to ramp up attention for a new set.
Of course it could be a rumour and I'm pondering prematurely......... | |

| | Keep in mind this is not a widespread promo figure as I understand it but just the prize for the select release tournaments of the new set. 1st and 2nd win the repaint as well as two random winners from the rest of the players. Wow would it rot to play for the torunament championship and then not even get second becuase of the tie-break system! | |

| Chrysotic Plague comes out Jan 19th, The release events with the alt-paint warcharm are Jan 26-28

| | releasing the warcharm as a promo gave me the impression that wizards wants new players to know its not too late to get into the game.
as the warcharm is almost an immediate turn off for new layers because of its cost and a must have for a competitive band.
i would conclude that wizards will find a way to make the warcharm available to most new gamers as a common reprint or a similar mini with a new and better version on the madness aspect.just my two cents. | |

re-releasing one, particularly so soon, perhaps this event is a way to
bring the cost down by both A) Making them available to newer players
(you can win one even if you don't do well) and B) putting more into
the marketplace. I can't see a re-printed figure coming out for quite
awhile.

| The promo scarab, Kills (Ok, just seriously bruises) two birds with one stone.
WotC pay pennies to produce a tournament prize, thats worth a lot ($70+) to the players. Advertising dosn't come much cheaper.
It reduces the problem, that dreamblade costs too much for players to get into. i.e. if you can't afford multiples of the most expensive rares, you won't win. a promo scarab won't solve that problem, but it should help a bit.
Note; I'll guess the promo scarab will sell at $100+ on ebay.
