I tried to do a trade with carl Bartoli- a trade that unfortunately I was unable to complete- we never exchanged address's or anything- Things happened- and I am not going to be able to do the trade- no big deal. so I email him and the title of the email is the response i get.

| I'm not sure if I'd qualify it as a personal attack. Very rude, though. I've had a similar experience when I made a counter offer to a proposal and the person didn't like it. I wouldn't be surprised if in these cases it was just someone thinking he was being funny, and didn't get it that he wasn't.

I have to agree with Cave Bear. We can not even confirm that this
exchage took place. Now I'm not saying that this whole thing is made
up, but if action was taken and it turned out that the accusations were
found to be false, what would happen?

I think it is more of an issue of whether the current topic (the title in particular) is appropriate for the boards.
Regardless of what the personal emails said or what was agreed, Ethandrul should not have used that "quote" for the title. In fact, if someone doesn't read what he wrote carefully, it would be easy to assume that _he_ was the one making that statement.
In addition, regardless of how accurate his description of whatever happened in private emails, this topic isn't really appropriate for this particular section of the forums. A posting to a reference thread, creating a new thread in the Reference forum regarding this issue, or making a post in that user's trade thread if that was the original source of the trade discussions, would have been a better response.

I agree that moderators shouldn't be policing private emails. However, I'd still caution people from using language like that here, especially in the title of a thread. Again, sorry for my misinterpretation of the original post. | |

Yes, but you have a relationship with your friends where you all understand that it means nothing. It's humorous in that context. If you said the same thing to your boss, you'd get fired. Since in many ways a trade negotiation is a business relationship, it's really inappropriate and unprofessional.
I may see trading as something more formal than others do, but if I only know you from one or two emails, I want the exchange to be mature and professional. I definitely wouldn't use the same language I used with my frinds, no matter how humorous it is to us.
