I bought a starter pack of Dreamblade to take a look at the minis & the rules.  I was hoping that there would be some cross over potential for RPG purposes, since I'm not a stickly for having particular stats/rules match particular minis.  However, the Dreamblade minis are a completely different scale than DDM, and the bases are large and square, which makes it kind of hard to place inside a grid of 1" squares.

Reports are that most minis can be popped off their large base, but remain attached to their 1 inch square base.  I haven't tried it yet though.

While the scale is off for "humanoids" of Medium sized, several of the figures could easily be used as 7'-10' tall D&D Humanoids, or as general monsters...  More than 50% would require a WHOLE lot of creativity on your part to use in D&D though!

I just want to get one of those uncommon Pearlthorn Castles.  It just looks cool.

I haven't seen that one, but I'm kind of in this same mindset.  Cost of the Starter is just too much (is it 30 everywhere?), but there were a couple of pieces I just enjoy aestetically (sp?).  Knight of the Autumn Wind jumps to mind.  I'll just buy 2 or 3 online to put around my pc, and leave the game to others.

I just played a Dreamblade demo and watched a couple games yesterday.  It looks like a fun game, but the fact that "dual use" of these minis is a real stretch is keeping me from buying any.  I can definitely see popping the 1-inch figurine base loose from the large base.  It's clear that the base is made of two pieces glued together.  That could let you use many of them for RPG.  Some, though...yeah, you'd have to be pretty creative.  A pair of scissors with one point stuck in the ground?  Animated object, I guess.  A little pyramid building that looks like a layer cake...?  For many of the rest, it could be inspiration for generating new monster stats, which for many is not a bad thing, at all.

i bought a booster and removing them from the second bottom base is very very difficult. the label does not come off easily(destroyed in process) and outer bases was also destroyed in process. i tried it on the leopardman and had to uses two plyers one in each hand to get the leopard man on just the black base. then the base had to be modified as it has four raised edges on the bottom of the base and a raised circular edge in the middle that had to be cut off. i have not heard anyone actually try to remove bases only it can be done. id like to hear more feedback from others who have tried it.  with more success and have been able to then re-uses the piece for dreamblade again. i have a feeling it cant be done.which is too bad becasue it has a lot of cross use potential with some of thses figures but im not breaking out a chainsaw to do it

Removing the outer base is a big pain in the tuckus. I've picked up one or two Dreamblade pieces for RPG, but I'm sticking to using only things that would be large in RPG.

I tried to pop one out, no way could I get the bases separated.

Thanks, realmaster. Let's split up!!!!!
