| Rules Compendium?? LOL. That's sad that they didn't playtest the game enough to avoid needing a book like that.
There are so many places in the rulebooks where it says, "Rule Suchandsuch. Example: (contradicts rule)" And then the gamers are left scratching their heads, wondering why someone didn't read through the books for things like that before they went off to press. | | "Look to God and live." On the surface, this book seems so totally unnecessary. However, I will reserve judgment for now.

| I've still to persuade my girlfriend to join in our RPG, so think I'll buy her Confessions of a Part-time Sorceress for Xmas :)
But surely the announcement of D&D 4th Edition is going to pretty much kill sales of the remaining 3.5 edition releases?

Not necessarily.
First, there are many players who will not change to 4e due to financial reasons or stubbornness or some other motivating factor.
Second, there will be stockpiles of 3.5e material that stores will still carry. I have 0% confidence that WotC will offer to buy back product from stores (I don't believe they'd even consider it), so, some of that will probably be reduced in price to encourage movement from the shelves.
And, given that a new edition always comes with turmoil, if you're not eager (for other reasons, perhaps) to switch editions, you might have a long life of 3.5e playing still available.

| | I'm personally hoping that retailers cut prices on some of the old 3.5 supplements, so I can catch up on my collection, and enjoy 3.5 for a while longer before deciding on whether or not to switch over to 4e. | | Champion of the Elf Duskblade | |

| Posted By Teflon Jeff on 09/15/2007 7:38 AM Plus, a lot of the new stuff coming out is less edition-specific (Grand History of the Realms, etc.) I don't get the point of a non-edition specific RPG book, really. I buy the books because of the rules in them that structure the game for me. A non-edition specific book would not really have much of any rules at all. It sounds more like a novel about an area written more for filling out information.
Well, I might feel a bit differently had I any interest in Forgotten Realms, for example. I do not have interest in Forgotten Realms, though.

that's why most of them will either be rules light, or a 3.5 closure item (rules compendium) | | Official Delegate, Wizards of the Coast Against The Giants Called Shot: Huge Green Dragon Icons Called Shot: Gargantuan Prismatic Dragon
