And it was fantastic. The gaming rooms were in old cells (just a wee bit from holding cells for the condemned and insane), which was a bit squeezy for games with 8 players + GM, but just about perfect for 6 players + GM. Great atmosphere for it, but pity the psychics :p (also pity the vegatarians, as lunch there was sausages both days, least veg pizza was an option to order at night).
There was another section (labyrinth) that was used for the big battlegames like the warhammer 40k tourament etc.
As I ran one session (mini role-play, a module design for minis that I`ll post here once I clean it up a bit), all sessions were free for me but otherwise it was a very small $35 AUD ($26 USD) for as many game sessions as you wanted. Well four the first day, three the second day, each session being three hours long. Plus $20 to stay overnight at the gaol (jail) including breakfast. So for value, I don't think it could be beat. Got to play living greyhawk, first time I`ld really played 3.x D&D, so that was well worth it. Even won a WoDQ booster for good role playing (pulled Dracolich & Tordek) And in keeping with playing new versions of RPG's that I haven't played since the first version, I played Paranoia XP, a game I love as a one off now n then. I got to be hygiene officer. Of course that game was fun. The computer said so. Was also a chance to play settlers of cataan, again something I have been wanting to try for a long time but havent wanted to buy it until I could test it. Another new board game called Mage Master, similar to Talisman but ... well not more advanced, but umm 'differently depthed'. If I played that one straight out of box I may not of liked it, as you have to play a bit cautious at first. I most likely rave about it in OT later as I really got into it. Not a small game though, after four hours of play I had to leave for another game, but others kept playing, and if you were leisurely about it, it could of gone on for another four hours easily. Had a short (ie one hour) game of Warmachine: Steam something. Neat & well painted miniatures, Enjoyable game play but seemed needlessly complex thanks to my DDM bias but still easy enough to learn. There was a Starwars release for bounty hunters that a couple of mates were in. I just watched as didn't want to fork out the money for something I didn't collect, and it was imo badly timed, cutting into two gaming sessions. Played the only other DDM thing at the con. Ruins of Engarth which was a free for all with four players + GM band run by self admitted inexperienced GM for Minis. I asked about taking my own armies and was glad I did, as it ended up three of us four players used them. He stressed no cheesy armies, so didn't use anything truly T1. (the curious call see them at my vorpal warband page). I used the Shuluth & Cadaver Collector band, and kicked butt. A set points the map changed, and got to carry those two through all the changes, with the CC getting to obscene AC. Rules were a bit erractic, but wasn't bad.
Tried to watch Life of Brian at the sleep over, but the Snakes on a Plane RPG mob were just too loud
The society of creative anachronism spent about an hour show casing duals and mayhem which was fun to watch.
And so much more
Phew.. spent most of yesterday recovering :|
