| | I know that Bloodwar mini's are being delayed so that WOTC can comply with the new EU standards of exactly how cancerous their mini's are allowed to be. This is the first I've heard of a recall though. | | Champion of Gromph Baenre | |

| Yeah right, so are they going to ban everything that has PVC or acrylic in it? The minis are made out of the same stuff as a million other plastic products, it just does not make sense. Oh well, no mention of it here in the States. | | Evil triumphs when good men fail their morale saves. | |

| This is not a new issue. well let me clearfiy that it is a new issue with PVC, but it is not the first product to be banned in Europe, but still avaliable in North America.
I would not worry about North America being effected. There have been chemicals banned in Europe for years that are still used in a ton North American products. Many of them far worst then PVC.

Froffenhoffer, the boosters were only delayed in the UK. It's legal to continue selling existing stocks. The law is somewhat more stringent in other EU countries. Older expansions were withdrawn/destroyed. So while the UK retail trade has basically recovered. I suspect the rest of the EU will never get restocks of the earliar expansions. | | Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. Does this mean my 2 cases of Underdark and 8 cases of WotDQ are illegal contraband in the EU?Â

Does my selling price increase? If it ever gets to the point where DDM are being sold on the black market I'm cashing out.

| They don't seem to be stopping any shipments being sent in of singles however. As I haven't had any problems with shipments getting through to Europe at all. It might explain while my international singles sales have been increasing the way they have though, if EU can't get them in the stores for the older expansions anymore. And please, please don't tell me they actually destroyed boosters or cases...that is just wrong!

| As an "Environmental" guy I am way curious about the EU restrictions on PVC. Does it have to do with the production of the plastic product? Are they worried about landfill potential? Or consumption? Anyone got any info?
I would also love to see WOTC's report and or risk assessment on the minis.

| Let's not forget LabMonkey's cat that ate a Storm Giant. Last I heard, the animal was fine.
Oh, and I'm not sure that a generalized statement about cancer being more common in Noth America is true. A quick look at statistics shows that in 2003, a bit over 1/2 million deaths in the US could be attributed to cancer. In 2004, about 1.7 million deaths in Europe could be attributed to cancer. Since the total European population is about 2.5x that of the US, that puts the European mortality rate from cancer higher than in the US. And yes, lung cancer seems to make it to the top of the list. Maybe if you added up all types of cancer, North America would be higher (I don't know, that would take more research than I'm willing to do), but I'm not so worried about the stuff that doesn't generally kill you. Another factor to consider is age of a population. Is the average age of the population higher in North America or Europe? One would expect cancer rates to naturally be higher in the more aged population.

Yep. She's still here and still eating everything she can get her paws on. This weekend it was a loaf of bread, some flowers, and some cookies. She also once ate an entire chocolate moose pie (which should be pretty toxic to cats). She usually sticks to human food products, but occasionally she'll venture into other areas like minis, paper or q-tips. Believe it or not, I actually do feed her.
I sold my entire minis collection about 6 months ago. However, the closet where it used to live still smells of plastic - crack today. It's pretty scary that the fumes could linger for so long.Â

More toxic to dogs than cats (especially some species - They say that a 200 g tablet of dark chocolate can be enough to kill a bulldog or boxer). But if it was the entire pie, she is lucky (though the only really dangerous is dark chocolate IIRC). Aspirin, ibuprofen and paracetamol are very dangerous for cats. Grapes are mildly toxic IIRC. Thankfully my cat doesn't like sugary substances, only melon. Doesn't drink enough though, and may have kidney problems in the future... But she NEVER touches my minis
